Austin Peay State University’s Damarius Smith to sit for basketball season’s first half

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Senior guard Damarius Smith, who started 20 games at point guard for Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team a year ago, has been suspended for the 2014-15 season’s first half for a “violation of athletic department policy.”

APSU’s New Governors Stadium to open this Saturday

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For nearly seven decades, Governors Stadium has served as the home of Austin Peay State University football and track and field teams. But nothing in those 68 years compares to the stadium transformation that occurred since the 2013 Governors football campaign ended.

A ceremonial demolition of Governors Stadium began following the November 19th contest against Southeast Missouri. Despite the coldest winter in recent time, including ice conditions that shut down the University for three days, the construction crew lost just one day of work.

Instant Peay Play: Wait finally over, new APSU Governors Stadium has debut this weekend

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Players, coaches and fans of Austin Peay State University football have been waiting for this day since the wrecking ball took down old Governors Stadium following the 2013 football season, with the 19-million dollar new Governors Stadium making its debut on September 13th, with the University of Tennessee Chattanooga coming to town for a 4:00pm contest.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Cross Country improves at Powerade Invitational in Chattanooga

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUChattanooga, TN – The Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team travelled across the state to compete in Friday’s Powerade Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga at Moccasin Bend. The meet, which was held in the unique “double dual” format, saw the Governors go 3-3 on the afternoon.

Austin Peay State University Football no match for Memphis Tigers in 63-0 loss

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUMemphis, TN – The Memphis Tigers scored on its first six offensive possessions, including five rushing touchdowns, as Austin Peay State University lost its season opener, 63-0, a contest played Saturday night at the Liberty Bowl.

It was APSU’s fourth straight season-opening loss—all to Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams. The Govs last season-opening win was a 38-6 home victory against Cumberland in the 2010 season.

APSU Governors Football ready to open season at Memphis today

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – A much different Austin Peay State University football team will kick off Year 2 of the Kirby Cannon Era when the Governors travel to West Tennessee to face Memphis in a 6:00pm, Saturday contest at the Liberty Bowl.

The Governors, coming off a 0-12 2013, enter the season with a roster makeover that has 39 freshman dotting the list, with 18 spots on the two-deep held by first-year players.
