Austin Peay State University Breast Cancer 5K to be held April 23rd

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On April 23rd, runners, walkers and community supporters will gather at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Fitness and Recreation Center for the Sixth Annual Austin Peay Breast Cancer 5k. Proceeds from the event, which is pet friendly, will go toward breast cancer treatment and research.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life Launches “Hope Lives Here” Breast Cancer Campaign and Kickoff Rally on October 13th

 

American Cancer Society's Relay for LifeClarksville, TN – On October 13th, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® campaign of Montgomery County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.

In addition to a delicious meal and fellowship with some of Clarksville’s finest volunteers, the rally will feature speakers from the community who have benefited from funds raised at Relay, will honor cancer survivors, recognize this past year’s participating teams and their contributions toward this effort and during which this year’s campaign theme will be unveiled.

Austin Peay State University Cross Country teams host APSU Cross Country Festival

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s cross country teams will host the Austin Peay Cross Country Festival Saturday with the women’s race slated for a 9:00am start followed by the men’s race at the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center.

After a week off, the men’s and women’s teams have been training hard to compete at a high level, after competing in the Powerade Invitational in Chattanooga, September 11th, where both teams received  star performances from key members.

APSU Governors, Lady Govs Cross Country picked ninth in OVC preseason polls

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men and women’s cross-country teams were both picked to finish ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference in the annual preseason coaches’ poll, released Wednesday.

The Govs received 43 points in the poll of league coaches, finishing ahead of UT Martin (35), Jacksonville State (26) and Tennessee State (12), and were three points behind Murray State (46) for eighth.

APSU Governors, Lady Govs Cross Country 2015 Schedule announced

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men and women’s cross-country teams unveiled their 2015 slates, Wednesday, which are highlighted by the second Austin Peay Cross Country Festival as well as trips to the Greater Louisville Classic and the Cross-Country Only National Invitational.

The Governors and Lady Govs will open the 2015 season with three consecutive meets inside Tennessee borders. The season begins September 5th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers.

Montgomery County Relay For Life “Racing for a Cure” A Celebration of Birthdays, Hope and Courage

 

American Cancer Society's Relay for LifeClarksville, TN – Hundreds filled the grounds of the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center Athletic Field in support of a celebration of life; in the collective fight for more birthdays, and that of hope for a cure and in a massive show of courage and support of the numerous cancer patients and survivors in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

Held on Saturday, May 17th, cancer survivors, family members, friends, caretakers and supporters braved the unseasonably cool evening weather gathering for what has become a tradition in Clarksville.
