This Saturday, Austin Peay State University will welcome home some of the talented artists who honed their skills inside the Trahern Building.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the building’s gallery will feature an Art Alumni Exhibition to correspond with the University’s Homecoming festivities. Former APSU art students will return to campus that afternoon to present innovative new works for this show.
The event, sponsored by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art, will also include an outdoor reception on the front lawn of the Trahern Building.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public, and all APSU alumni are encouraged to stop by Trahern. For more information, contact the art department at 931-221-7333.

Six alumni from Austin Peay State University will be honored Saturday, Oct. 31 during the Alumni Awards Brunch, held as part of the University’s Homecoming 2009 festivities.
The brunch will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31 in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Cost is $25 per person, and advance reservations are required by Wednesday, Oct. 28. The event is open to the public.

 Jesse Ballard, Christian Pierce, and Brandi LaPlante bring their do-wop look to Chem lab Wednesday.
If you’ve seen 1920s flappers, rock ‘n rollin’ kids in poodle skirts and guys with slicked back hair and leather jackets, hippies in bellbottom jeans and tie-dyed T-shirts dashing from class to class … you can believe your eyes: decade by decade, APSU students have been heading towards Homecoming with a celebration of decades past. Halloween has nothing on this Homecoming celebration, which is themed “Let the Good Times Roll!
Homecoming continues through the weekend with the following events:
Friday, Oct. 24: Decade of the Day – Totally ’80s
30th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament, 8 a.m., Swan Lake Golf Course. $60 per person. Open to the public. Fee includes ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and light lunch. Austin Peay State University will kick off Homecoming 2008 with the announcement of the Homecoming Court at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in the Morgan University Center plaza. The Clarksville Academy Homecoming Bonfire will be held at the CA Sports Complex at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday. There will be one area for PK-5 and one area for 6-12. There will be hayrides around the complex and the Float Boat competition for grades 7-12.
The Homecoming game vs. Community High School will take place at 7:30 P.M. on Friday, October 3. The court will be presented at half-time and this year’s Homecoming Queen will be announced.
Homecoming dances for Intermediate and Upper School students will be held on Saturday. The Intermediate School dance will be held in the foyer from 6:00 – 8:30 P.M. and is for students in grades 6-8 only. Admission is $5.00 per person. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Burkhart.
The Upper School dance will be held from 9:00 P.M. until midnight in the Auxiliary Gym and is open for students in grades 9-12 only. Admission is $10.00 per person. Questions may be directed to Mrs. White. Attire for both dances is semi-formal. No jeans allowed. Gentlemen must wear collared shirts and khaki or dress slacks.
