Clarksville City Council Update, September 15th, 2012

Clarksville City Council - Ward 10Clarksville, TN – I have been working on improvements and stoplights for the Exit 11 and Sango Road area since 2000. This was long before I got on the council for Ward 10. After being elected to the council, in 2007 I tried again as well as in 2009.  In the past year, we finally had some success. So persistence, help from Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson and others has finally paid off.

I have been informed by our Street Engineers that the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) selected a contractor to carry out the construction project a few weeks ago. There are likely several more weeks of work to finalize any issues and construction requirements. It is possible that work could begin within a couple of months.  The project is scheduled to be complete not later than June 2013. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville City Updates for July 22nd, 2012

Clarksville City Council - Ward 10Clarksville, TN – In recent weeks I have received calls or emails concerning the Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE). Some concerned billing while others were related to service, especially during the outages due to the storms.

This past week I had the opportunity to meet with Brian Taylor, Director of CDE, for over two hours. He was very gracious in wanting to address my questions and provide factors and details CDE faces in providing electrical service to our city. I want to publicly thank him for taking time to meet with me. «Read the rest of this article»

Comments on the Executive Agenda Part 2

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The other item I wished to comment on for your info and consideration are efforts to fix traffic problem at Exit 11.  Many of you know that my efforts to gain stoplights at the Sango Road – MLK/Hwy 76 intersection go back to 2000.  A study effort request that I submitted on behalf of several neighborhoods back at that time did not support stoplights.

After being elected to the council in 2007, I made another request to have the area looked for traffic volume and stoplight needs.  Again the study did not support the need.  Around 2009 I again asked for a study from the state and it was performed.  It showed a greater volume of traffic but not for enough hours of the day. «Read the rest of this article»
