Tennessee State Trooper in Putnam County arrests Hip-Hop Artist “Nelly”

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – A Tennessee state trooper arrested internationally known hip-hop artist “Nelly” on felony drug charges in Putnam County on Saturday morning.

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 9:20am on Saturday, Trooper Michael Loftis stopped a Prevost motor coach bus on Interstate 40 near the 275 mile marker for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA) sticker on the vehicle. The investigating trooper planned to conduct an inspection on the bus when he noticed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that a developing storm system will move across the gulf coast states this afternoon into tonight and produce accumulating snowfall across Clarksville-Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee.

For locations generally north of Interstate 40 and west of Interstate 65, snowfall accumulations are expected to be less than one inch.

Tennessee National Guard Teams respond to Winter Weather

 

Tennessee National GuardNashville, TN – Soldiers from Dickson’s 267th Military Police Company were on the highway Friday night assisting local authorities with health and welfare checks for stranded motorists along I-40, west of Nashville.

The Soldiers patrolled a 50 mile stretch, both east and west, along the most congested areas. Some motorists were stranded for several hours and the appearance of Soldiers with various supply and comfort items were a welcome sight.

Soldiers from the 267th Military Police Company headquartered in Dickson check the welfare of a motorist stranded on I-40 Friday night. The Soldiers patrolled over 50 miles of highway during the worst of the storm.

Clarksville – Montgomery County under Ice Storm Warning until Tuesday morning

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an ice storm warning, which is in effect until 9:00am CST Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 for the Clarksville-Montgomery County area as well as parts of Middle Tennessee. The winter storm warning has been cancelled.

An ice storm warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations will make travel dangerous or impossible.

Travel is strongly discouraged.
