UPtown Art Swap coming Sept. 29

art-swap.JPGThe UPtown Artist’s Swap will be held Saturday, September 29 from 7-10 p.m. at the Icehouse Cafe.

This will be one of your last opportunities to see our current exhibit, HUG LIFE: Recent Works from Charles Bennett.

All artists are invited to bring arts and crafts in any medium to sell and trade. Tables are free and available on a first come, first serve basis. The event is also free and open to the public!

Call for artist entries: please drop off any and all work(s) of your choosing for our 2nd anniversary group exhibit, entitled REAP. There is no entry fee but art must be ready to hang.

Ben’s Birthday Bash at the Icehouse

dave-and-ben.JPGThe Icehouse Cafe hosted Ben Wilson’s 30th birthday bash again this year with music and a variety of other entertainment. In the packed, smoke free, Icehouse Cafe, a rowdy (in a good way) crowd, one-third of them over 50, clapped and hooted for the bellydancers, the headbanging sounds of the band, The Non-Professionals, and, pictured at left, musicians David Britton and guest of honor, Ben Wilson.

Evolution of Medusa

The Cafe event showcased ongoing displays of political and other art, including my own work, Evolution of Medusa (a.k.a. ‘Bob,” pictured at right) and a life-sized George Bush rendering with a ’select a saying” comic strip bubble, which can be photographed. «Read the rest of this article»

How I Learned to Stop Worrying (or Party for the Planet)

Art X-Po presents “How I Learned to Stop Worrying”, a group art event at The Icehouse Cafe (118 University Ave, Clarksville). Opening reception will be held on Saturday 07/07/07 at 7PM. On display will be work from some of the finest visual artists in the region including Debbie Boen, Andy Casali, Brandt Hardin, Barbara Herrick, Miranda Herrick, Chad Spann, and others.

Saturday is also LIVE EARTH, a 24 hour, 7 continent concert benefiting our current planetary crisis of global warming. Art X-Po will be hosting a Party for the Planet sponsored by MoveOn.org to coincide with our opening reception. Doors will open at 7PM and we will be tuning in for a special introduction by Al Gore and catch a few hours of one of the largest concerts in history.

This and ALL Art X-Po events are FREE, ALL AGES, and OPEN to the PUBLIC!

This event will have a politically charged atmosphere and we encourage anyone to bring your politics, your voice, your signs, your buttons, your flyers, your knowledge, your ribbons and your heart to share with us.

ARTISTS: I will be hanging this exhibit on Friday. I will fit art ceiling to floor if it arrives. There is no entry fee… just your willingness to share. Your work will display for the next two months. Please contact Brandt @ (931)220-4532 or artxpo@gmail.com for more information.

Call for Artist Entries…

Ice House Cafe“Light & Soul” group exhibition will be presented by Art X-Po and The Icehouse Cafe.

Show will open Thursday evening, Dec 7 during Clarksville’s Downtown Artwalk between 5-8PM.  This will run throughout the month of December.

Deadline for entries is Dec 2.  Dropoffs can be made during business hours at The Icehouse Cafe (118 University Ave, Clarksville) or by contacting Brandt at (931) 220-4532.  No entry fee but a $1 donation is suggested for programs/flyers/hanging etc.  Work must be finished, original, and suitable for hanging (ie framed).

Pumpkins and Art

Ice House CafeThe Icehouse Cafe and Art X-Po will host The UPtown Artists’ Swap this Saturday night at 7PM.  This will be the Halloween edition of the ‘Swap’ including a pumpkin carving contest.  Anyone and everyone is invited to bring arts and crafts to sell and trade at this FREE event.  And yes, anyone can bring a pumpkin and carving  equipment to get in on the contest!  The winner will receive an original work of art from Brandt Hardin at the event.
