APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team looks for its first road victory while also seeking to open Ohio Valley Conference play on the right foot when it meets Jacksonville State in a three-game league set, Friday-Sunday at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.

The three-game set is scheduled to begin with 11:00am contest both Friday and Saturday followed by a 1:00pm, Sunday series finale.

APSU Baseball starts five game road trip at Ole Miss

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team begins a five-game Spring Break road trip with a pair of nonconference contests. The Governors will face nationally-ranked Ole Miss in a 6:30pm, Tuesday contest in Oxford, Mississippi. Austin Peay then will meet Samford in a 6:00pm, Wednesday affair in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Governors (8-3), off to their third-best start in program history, return to action after winning their third-straight weekend series – winning two of three from Indiana State last weekend.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – If you were to ask any baseball or softball coach, including Austin Peay State University’s head baseball coach Travis Janssen or head softball coach Rodney DeLong, they would both tell you just how much pitching matters to a successful and winning team.

And while it is still very early-on in their respective season’s, both seem to have pitching staffs put together that can answer the challenges facing them and give their respective teams a chance to win ball games.

APSU Baseball falls to Indiana State, 11-5

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team came back from one deficit but could not fend off a second offensive outburst in an 11-5 loss to Indiana State, Sunday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (8-3) scored the game’s first run when catcher Parker Phillips‘ doubled to drive in second baseman Garrett Giovannelli. However, the Govs would leave the bases loaded as Sycamores starter Tyler Whitbreak struck out two batters after the double.

APSU Baseball rallies to defeat Indiana State, 8-7

APSU BaseballClarksville, TNJohn McDonald batted in two runs as part of a four-run sixth inning that pushed Austin Peay State University’s baseball team to an 8-7 victory against Indiana State, Saturday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Governors starter Jacques Pucheu and Sycamores starter Triston Polley battled in a pitcher’s duel through the first five innings, but each had their own method of getting through five frames. However, both starters ran out of gas in the sixth and the offenses took advantage.

APSU Governors Baseball falls to Vanderbilt Commodores, 19-6

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Left fielder Andrew Flaherty had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI but Austin Peay State University’s baseball team could not solve No. 12 Vanderbilt in a 19-6 loss, Tuesday night at Hawkins Field.

Austin Peay (6-2) scored the game’s first run with right fielder Nick Walker‘s sacrifice fly in the third inning. However, Vanderbilt scored the game’s next 11 runs to break the game open.

Tennessee Lady Vols take on Marquette in Cancun Challenge, Thursday

UT Lady VolsPuerto Aventuras, Mexico – No. 12/14 Tennessee (3-0) plays its first game away from Knoxville this season, as the Lady Vols take part in the Cancun Challenge in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, Thursday through Saturday.

Competing in the Riviera Tournament, the Lady Vols open play vs. No. 20/20 Marquette (1-1) at 5:30pm CT on Thanksgiving night.

UT enters undefeated after winning three straight at home to open the season, rolling past East Tennessee State, 87-49, and James Madison, 89-60, at Thompson-Boling Arena on November 12th and 15th, respectively, before closing out a three-game season-opening home stand with a 68-56 victory over Wichita State on Monday night.
