Tennessee Department of Transportation Maintenance Work for Montgomery County area starting April 19th, 2013

Nashville, TN – In Montgomery County, the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be doing resurfacing and bridge deck repair on I-24 from SR 76 to the Robertson County Line.
Starting Friday April 19th at 8:00pm through Sunday April 21st, 6:00pm, there will be one lane closures on I-24 eastbound and westbound around LM 15.00 in order to pour concrete on bridge parapet rails.
On Monday April 22nd through Wednesday April 24th, from 8:00pm-6:00am, there will be one lane closures on I-24 eastbound and westbound around LM 15.00 in order to perform bridge deck repair. «Read the rest of this article»
Tennessee Governor and Commissioner Release Transportation Improvement Plan for 2013-2016
Program Supports Economic Development Opportunities & Long Term Transportation Needs
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner John Schroer released the three-year transportation program, featuring approximately $1.5 billion in infrastructure investments for 80 individual project phases in 47 counties, as well as 15 statewide programs.
Tennessee is one of only five states that do not borrow money to fund transportation projects, and the program continues TDOT’s “pay as you go” philosophy, carrying no debt for any transportation initiatives. «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Highway Patrol announces 2012 Trooper of the Year
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) named Trooper Nathan W. Hall the 2012 Trooper of the Year at a special award ceremony held Thursday evening in Murfreesboro, TN. Trooper Hall earned the honor after preventing a possible suicide attempt by a juvenile last December in Sullivan County.
“Trooper Hall is a great example of what is expected of a Tennessee State Trooper. He’s professional, courageous, works hard and has a positive attitude. His actions on the night of December 16th, 2012 were nothing short of heroic. Trooper Hall is an outstanding representative of our agency and deserves the Trooper of the Year recognition,” Colonel Tracy Trott said.

Nashville, TN – On Monday January 14th through Wednesday January 16th, 9:00am-3:00pm, there will be alternating lane closures on State Route 12 in both directions between mile markers 10.9 and 12.2 in order to mill, pave and stripe the roadway.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrests Dickson County Man for Murdering his Wife
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged a Dickson County man for murdering his wife.
TBI arrested 23-year-old Morris Long tonight when he was discharged from Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was charged with first degree murder for the death of his wife 21-year-old Ashlee Long. On December 22nd, 2012, Ashlee Long’s mother and stepfather discovered her beaten to death in her bed at her residence located at 106 Bishop Lane in Burns, TN.

TDOT Reports I-40 West in Nashville to Close Next Weekend for Bridge Repair
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close a short section of Interstate 40 Westbound at the I-40/I-24 split just east of downtown Nashville the first weekend in January in order to make repairs to a bridge damaged when it was struck by an oversized vehicle.
