Austin Peay State University Governors SportsStarkville, MS - A magical 2013 season came to an end for Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team, Friday, when the Govs fell, 4-0, to tenth-seeded Mississippi State in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament.

Austin Peay State University Governors Tennis wins OVC Tennis Tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsPaducah, KY - For the first time since 1974, Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team has earned the right to call itself Ohio Valley Conference Champion.

The Govs defeated Belmont, 4-1, in the finals of the OVC Tournament Championship at Heflin Tennis Center, Sunday, to secure the second conference title in program history.

Austin Peay State University has Four Athletes earn All-OVC honors

Austin Peay State UniversityPaducah, KY – For the second year in a row, four Austin Peay State University men’s tennis players have earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. The conference announced their honors at the annual awards banquet prior to the OVC Tennis Tournament Championship.

Senior Sean Bailey, junior Jasmin Ademovic and sophomore Dimitar Ristovski earned first-team honors, as voted by the conference coaches. Sophomore Aleksas Tverijonas claimed a spot on the second team. It’s the second time in three years the Govs have placed three on the first team, with Ademovic, Bailey and Henrique Norbiato earning first-team honors in 2011.

Austin Peay State University Governors Tennis clinch first round bye with win over Jacksonville State

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN - After seeing its 14-match win streak snapped in Saturday’s loss to Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team bounced back in a big way against Jacksonville State, Sunday.

The Govs used dominant singles performances to knock off the Gamecocks, 5-2, at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team closes out its regular season with two important weekend matches at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

The Govs battle Tennessee Tech, 1:00pm, Saturday, with the conference title on the line and conclude the season with a 2:00pm, Sunday tilt against Jacksonville State.

Austin Peay State University’s Anthony Bradley named Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior Anthony Bradley, of the Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Bradley shot a four-under par 209 (69-68-72) to earn medalist honors at the Arkansas State Red Wolves Intercollegiate last week, his second medalist honor of the season, topping a field of 112 competitors. Bradley sank 10 birdies and an eagle during the two-day event, leading the Govs to a school-record fifth tournament title.
