Glendale, AZ – The Nashville Predators may well have played their best game of the series – and possibly the playoffs – posting a 33-17 advantage in shots on goal and 73-to-40 lead in shot attempts, while holding a massive edge in zone time, but still finding a way to lead hits 39-37.

Nashville Predators drop Game 4 to Phoenix Coyotes and fall to 3-1 in the series

Nashville, TN – The Phoenix Coyotes scored off a Preds turnover in the middle of the first period and the Nashville Predators had an apparent goal waived off late in the third period as the Coyotes picked up a 1-0 win to grab a 3-1 series lead.

Nashville started slowly in the first period, but continued to play better as the game progressed, still the Predators now head to Phoenix needing to sweep the final three games in order to advance. Nashville Predators look to Refocus on Defense

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators’ team identity is its strong defensive play. With Vezina finalist Pekka Rinne in net and All-Star defensemen Ryan Suter and Shea Weber anchoring the d-corps, along with a bevy of solid two-way forwards, the Predators were built to grind out low-scoring tight checking games.

The Preds are at their best when the team is talking defense. It fueled the team’s torrid run through December and January. Nashville also used that system to perfection in dispatching the Detroit Red Wings in Round 1 of the playoffs, limiting the Wings offense to just nine goals in five games to claim the series four games to one.

Nashville Predators drop Game 2 to the Phoenix Coyotes 5-3

Glendale, AZ – Each time the Nashville Predators appeared to gain some momentum, the Phoenix Coyotes would take advantage of a Nashville misplay to wrestle momentum away from the Predators, en route to a 5-3 Coyotes win in Game 2 on Sunday evening.

The Preds surrendered a goal to Pyatt just 30 seconds after Patric Hornqvist’s power-play goal brought the Preds to 3-2 and temporarily quieted the crowd. Nashville again appeared to gain some momentum when Ryan Suter scored on the power-play 53 seconds into the third period, but the Preds struggled the remainder of the four-on-four and the Coyotes cashed in on a faceoff play at the 3:36 mark of the third to regain the two goal lead. «Read the rest of this article»

Nashville, TN – Monday’s Stanley Cup Playoff Schedule saw the final Western Conference series come to a close with the Phoenix Coyotes posting a 4-0 shutout at Chicago BlackHawks in Game 6 to win the series 4 games to 2.

Nashville Predators playoff update after Sunday’s Action

Nashville, TN – Sunday’s Stanley Cup Playoff Schedule saw only one Western Conference game, but that game brought a good deal of clarity to the Preds Round 2 playoff opponent.

The Los Angeles Kings overcame a 1-0 third period deficit for a 2-1 overtime win at Vancouver to close out the Western Conference Quarterfinals series 4 games to 1. Nashville Predators playoff update after Saturday’s Action

Nashville, TN – Since the Nashville Predators wrapped up their series on Friday night, the focus shifts to Round 2 and possible opponents. There were Western Conference games on Saturday — both potential elimination games.

Nashville Predators beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 in Game 4

Detroit, MI – The Nashville Predators played rope-a-dope for the first two periods and then broke out with three goals in the third period to claim a 3-1 win in Game 4 over the Detroit Red Wings and a 3-1 series lead heading back to Nashville for Game 5 on Friday.

Nashville, TN – A very strange, very un-Nashville Predators/Detroit Red Wings type of game — 14 power-play chances, only half the game was played five-on-five (actually 34:58, but close enough), both teams enjoying a five-on-three, both teams struggling to generate speed through the neutral zone — but that’s playoffs hockey.

Nashville, TN – Shea Weber and Ryan Suter headline the Nashville Predators defense and for good reason; they’re both All-Star Defensemen and standouts at the Olympic level. However, rookie Roman Josi may be just as important to Nashville’s post-season chances.
