Nashville, TN – Following a Thanksgiving break, Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team returns to the road when it competes in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Classic, Friday-Saturday.
The Govs open the tournament with a noon, Friday contest against host Vanderbilt. A Saturday contest will see APSU face either Indiana or Ohio.

Clarksville, TN – A familiar cast coupled with a new director will take center stage when Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team begins its 56th season of basketball with a 7:00pm, Friday contest against Pac-12 Conference member California.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s basketball teams won their respective three preseason games last week, but while winning those games, there were some questions answered and others still to be solved with the beginning of the regular season on November 13th looming.
First, and with little question coming into the preseason, the Governors’ senior center Chris Horton and the Lady Govs’ senior Tiasha Gray showed they are still a pair of the best players in the Ohio Valley Conference with Horton averaging 22.5 points and 11 rebounds in his two exhibition games – shooting 68.2 percent from the floor (15-22) and 84.2 percent from the free throw line (16-19).

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s fall sports maybe in the middle of their respective Ohio Valley Conference seasons, but it’s not too early to look forward to winter and basketball season, with the Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams beginning preseason practice.
As both teams enter the up-coming season they will have big questions to answer, with the Govs looking to return to the postseason for the first time since the 2011-12 season, while the Lady Govs enter the season with a new head coach in David Midlick, who takes over for Carrie Daniels, who had led the women’s team for the past nine seasons.

Brentwood, TN – Seventy-nine Austin Peay State University student-athletes were named to the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Friday.
Austin Peay’s 79 honorees were among a record 1,279 student-athletes recognized for their performance in the classroom, topping last year’s 1,255 honorees.
“I want to congratulate each of the student-athletes who earned recognition on the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll,” said interim athletics director Cheryl Holt. “This award recognizes their hard work in the classroom throughout the year. I also want to thank our coaching staffs and academic support staff for their support of our student-athletes academic goals.”

Clarksville, TN – A department-record 37 student-athletes earned 4.0 grade-point averages during the Spring 2015 semester, the Austin Peay State University athletics department announced Wednesday.
Those 37 student-athletes were among 159 named to the Spring 2015 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, representing more than half (52.3 percent) of the department’s student-athletes.
In addition, 83 student-athletes were named to Austin Peay’s dean’s list. The department finished both the spring semester and 2014-15 academic year with a 2.88 GPA.
