Clarksville, TN - A record 1,222 students were conferred degrees, Friday, as Austin Peay State University held its 84th Spring Commencement in the Dunn Center and 49 of those were Govs and Lady Govs student-athletes.
The morning commencement saw students earn degrees from the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Science and Mathematics and the School of Technology and Public Management will participate in commencement.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Basketball fortifies backcourt adding Fred Garmon as new Point Guard

Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University men’s basketball continued to fortify its backcourt by adding 5-11 point guard Fred Garmon, who played the last two seasons at Mineral Area Junior College in Park Hills, MO.
As a freshman, the Kennett, Mo., native averaged 7.1 points per game along 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals at Mineral Area. A torn meniscus interrupted his sophomore season and then shortly after returning, he incurred a deep bone bruise to the same knee when he collided with an opponent. Although his overall numbers shrank (4.9 ppg, 4.0 apg in 14 games), he still was able to help lead the Cardinals to a 26-8 record, a Region XVI title as well as a berth in the 2013 NJCAA National Tournament.

Three Players leave APSU Men’s Basketball program

Clarksville, TN – One Austin Peay State University basketball player has elected to forgo the remainder of his basketball career to pursue his educational goals while two other Governors have chosen to leave the program to pursue other basketball opportunities.

The Governors strictly will be playing for pride and building for the future when they play Southeast Missouri, 7:00pm, Thursday, and UT Martin, 7:30pm, Saturday.

Austin Peay State University hosting final Basketball Promotions

Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University students and fans are invited to take advantage of multiple promotions at the Govs and Lady Govs final home basketball games, to include free t-shirts, free food for students and discounted tickets for APSU alumni.
When the Lady Govs host Belmont, 7:00pm, Wednesday, the first 300 Austin Peay students can take part in free food available on the Dunn Center second floor. It also is the final night of the Greek Challenge with the grand prize of $500.00 going to the Greek Organization with the highest percentage in attendance. Sigma Phi Epsilon has captured the single-game prize at the each of the first three Greek Challenge nights.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball lose in overtime to Liberty Flames 79-73 at ESPN BracketBusters

Lynchburg, VA – Overtime and Austin Peay State University basketball just don’t mix.
After Travis Betran’s long three pointer tied the game and the Govs defense denied Liberty at regulation’s end, the Governors year-long free-throw shooting woes caught up with them in overtime as Liberty held off APSU, 79-73, in the ESPN Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters contest at the Vines Center.

Edwardsville, IL – Their Austin Peay State University teammates made sure Anthony Campbell and Will Triggs return home was a winning one.
Campbell and Triggs were among four Governors who scored in double figures, Saturday night, as APSU downed Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 83-71, in Ohio Valley Conference action played at the Vadalabene Center.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball defeat Eastern Illinois Panters 71-64 to get first road win of the season

Charleston, IL – Anthony Campbell scored 24 points, including four second-half three pointers, and Chris Horton recorded a double-double as Austin Peay State University held off Eastern Illinois, 71-64, Thursday night in Ohio Valley Conference basketball action in Lantz Arena.
The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak and put the Govs at 6-20 overall and 2-10 in the OVC. It also was the Governors first road win this season.
