APSU Baseball now has 14 Governors Playing Professional Baseball

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN - With its record draft class reporting to summer leagues, Austin Peay State University’s baseball team now claims a record 14 former student-athletes playing professional baseball.

The Governors saw a record five players selected in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player draft in June. Each of the five signed a professional contract and reported to leagues across the country.

APSU’s Breigh Jones wins fifth-place at Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUDes Moines, IA – Rising sophomore Breigh Jones, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, placed fifth in the finals of the United States Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 22nd at Drake Stadium, lowering her personal-best to 53.26.

Austin Peay State University has Four Governors taken on final day of 2013 Major League Baseball Draft

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsSeacaucus, NJ – Four Austin Peay State University baseball student-athletes were selected, Saturday, on the third day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Draft.

Along with senior closer Tyler Rogers, who was picked in Friday’s action, the five APSU players drafted this season is a program record.

APSU Governors Baseball has four players named to Louisville Slugger All-America Teams

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsTuscon, AZ – Four Austin Peay State University baseball players were named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger All-America Teams as selected by Collegiate Baseball June 30th.

Junior first baseman Craig Massoni and senior outfielder Cody Hudson were second-team All-America selections – the program’s first second-team honorees since pitcher Rowdy Hardy earned second team honors in 2005.

Reed Harper named Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN - Senior shortstop Reed Harper, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Harper was named Most Valuable Player of last weekend’s Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament, leading the Govs to a third consecutive OVC Tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Tournament.
