Jonesboro, AR – After week off for finals its back to the business of basketball for Austin Peay State University. The Govs will hit the road to face Arkansas State, 2:00pm, Sunday December 14th in the ASU Convocation Center.
The Governors business begins and ends with taking care of the basketball. APSU committed 28 turnovers in its 83-65 loss to Memphis-it was the third time this season the Govs committed 20 or more turnovers.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball collapses down the stretch and loses to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament opener

Nashville, TN – For the first 35 minutes of Austin Peay Governor’s opening-round matchup against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks Wednesday night, TyShwan Edmondson and the Govs could do no wrong.
Unfortunately for the Govs, the Gamecocks played better over the game’s final five minutes, erasing a six-point deficit as Brian Williams buried a go-ahead 3-pointer with 33 seconds left and handed the Govs in a 75-70 loss in front of a stunned Municipal Auditorium crowd.

Nashville, TN – Austin Peay’s bid for the Ohio Valley Conference tourney championship and its seventh NCAA tournament appearance will begin 8:00pm, Wednesday, as the Governors face Jacksonville State in Municipal Auditorium.
The Governors enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed after finishing in a sixth-place tie with Jacksonville State. The Govs gained the higher seed as a result of winning the two team’s earlier meeting, a 60-57 APSU decision in Clarksville Tennessee.

Governors clinch 6th seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament
Clarksville, TN – Entering Saturday night’s regular-season finale against the Southeast Missouri Redhawks, the situation for Austin Peay Men’s Basketball was simple.
Win, and the Governors would clinch the No. 6 seed in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Championship.
Lose, however, and things would get a little bit quirky.

Clarksville, TN – It is no longer a matter of “if” for Austin Peay’s basketball team in reference to qualifying for its 28th straight Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament. Now it is a matter of where the Governors will be seeded when the tournament starts this coming Wednesday at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium.
The Governors can be seeded as high as sixth and as low as eighth heading into Saturday’s 7:30pm regular-season finale against Southeast Missouri.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s bench scores 47 points to rally past the UT Martin Skyhawks, 85-67

Martin, TN – Austin Peay State University‘s bench combined for 47 points as the Governors defeated UT Martin, 85-67, Thursday night in Ohio Valley Conference basketball action played at the Elam Center.
The victory improved the Governors to 11-19 overall and 7-8 in the OVC. The Governors entered the night needing either an Eastern Illinois loss or an APSU victory to qualify for their 28th straight OVC tournament. Although EIU’s loss at Morehead State earlier in the night allowed the Govs to qualify, the Govs coaching staff chose not to inform the players to make sure they maintained their focus.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay enters the final weekend in a position it never saw coming.
In fact, the Governors need a win this weekend–or an Eastern Illinois loss–to assure its 28th straight appearance in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. The last time the Govs failed to appear in an OVC tourney? George Orwell’s favorite year…1984.
The Governors were picked to finish first in the OVC, but after losing center John Fraley in the season’s first game with a concussion for nine straight games, they never seemed to recover.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball snap five-game losing skid with win over Youngstown State in Sears BracketBusters matchup

Clarksville, TN – On paper, Saturday’s Sears BracketBusters matchup between the Austin Peay Governors and Youngstown State Penguins wasn’t supposed to mean much.
Try telling that to TyShwan Edmondson.
Coming off the bench for a second straight game, Edmondson bounced back for one of his better performances of the season, scoring 23 points as the Govs hung on for a 71-68 victory in the Dunn Center.
