Tennessee Lady Vols Fall to Louisville in NCAA Tournament 2nd Round, 75-64

UT Lady VolsLouisville, KY Jaime Nared had 28 points and 11 rebounds and Mercedes Russell added 11 points and 13 boards, but Tennessee could not survive Louisville’s fourth-quarter surge as the No. 5 seed Lady Vols fell to the No. 4 seed Cardinals, 75-64, on Monday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the KFC Yum! Center.

Tennessee (20-12) held a 47-46 lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Lady Vols missed their first 12 shots of the final 10 minutes of the game while Louisville (29-7) swung momentum in its favor.

Nared’s 28 points were the most she has ever scored in an NCAA Tournament game and her 11 boards tied for her best in NCAA play. She was 9-of-18 from the floor, 3-of 5 from 3-point range and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.

UT Lady VolsLouisville, KY – As the No. 5 seed in the Oklahoma City Regional, Tennessee is looking for its 35th trip to the Sweet 16 on Monday, when the Lady Vols take on 4th-seeded Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee Lady Vols beat Dayton 66-57 to advance in NCAA Tournament

UT Lady VolsLouisville, KY Diamond DeShields scored 24 points, and Mercedes Russell and Schaquilla Nunn posted double-doubles, leading Tennessee to a 66-57 win over Dayton on Saturday in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament at the KFC Yum! Center.

UT (20-11) advances to the second round, where it will meet host and No. 4 seed Louisville (28-7) here on Monday. Tip-time for that game has not been announced.

The Lady Vols surged in the third quarter to take command of the game after an exciting a 29-29 first half. UT limited Dayton (22-10) to just 20 percent shooting (4-of-20) from 3-point range in the win.

Clarksville’s Bashaara Graves leads Tennessee Lady Vols at NCAA Tournament Sweet 16

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols, the #1 seed in the Louisville Regional, has advanced to the 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, and will host Maryland on Sunday afternoon.

Tip-off is set for noon in the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville Kentucky.

This is Tennessee’s fifth-straight and 32nd overall NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, and the third year in a row for Maryland.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSULouisville, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team had few answers in a 108-53 loss to No. 7 Louisville, Saturday, at the KFC YUM! Center.

Austin Peay (3-6) challenged Louisville early, junior Kristen Stainback scoring five straight points to cap a 7-2 run that gave APSU a 7-6 lead 2:28 into the contest.

The Lady Govs meet American in a 9:00pm (CT), Friday contest before facing host Cal Poly in a 7:00pm (CT), Saturday contest. It is Austin Peay’s first trip to California since the 1998-99 season.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball push No. 11 Louisville Cardinals but fall 78-60

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsLouisville, KY – A determined Austin Peay State University women’s basketball went toe-to-toe with nationally-ranked Louisville for 30 minutes, but could not survive a second-half burst by the hosts and fell 78-60 in non-conference action, Tuesday, at the KFC Yum! Center.

Austin Peay (2-1) opened the second half with a 7-2 run, tying the game courtesy freshman Kristen Stainback’s three-pointer with 16:56 remaining. However, Louisville responded with the game’s next eight points before sophomore Nicole Olszewski made the Lady Govs next basket at the 15:16 mark to trail 44-38.
