APSU Community School of the Arts announces classes for fall 2009

The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University announces music, art and dance classes for children and adults for Fall 2009. Registration opens on Monday, Aug. 3rd. Most classes start Aug. 31 and continue through Dec. 12. New students may continue to enroll after the start date. Discovering more than Music at Clarksville’s Kindermusik class.

This morning Elle-Girl and I attended an event held in an upstairs practice room at the incredibly renovated new Mary’s Music Store downtown. The event was a preview Kindermusik class taught by Tiffany Hilliker. Kindermusik is a free form way of teaching children music by positive parent interaction and helping form a well rounded child. The class starts out with a happy hello song where you bounce your young child in your lap while singing “Hello” to the other children. The class then continues to teach predictable routine practices and interactive song and dance opportunities. The children get to experience different musical instruments and play with bright colorful streamers. In recital, young pianists, vocalists, delight audience

The Studio of Tiffany Hilliker held its Fall Recital at the Clarksville Department of Electricity’s Hall on Saturday, November 8. Nineteen students, all in recital attire, brilliantly performed.
Seventeen of these gifted students are pianists, and two, Lexi Moore and Lauren Ritter, are vocalists. An audience of approximately one hundred enjoyed the performances, and afterward shared in refreshments.
