Fort Campbell Lifeliner females, APSU Women’s Soccer build bonds

Clarksville, TN -Female officers from the 101st Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners,” 101st Airborne Divison (Air Assault) with boots laced and uniforms on were ready to head out to the field.

This field, however, had markers, goal posts and seats for spectators. Eight officers from the “Lifeliner” Brigade visited the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team for Women’s Equality Day August 26th, at Fortera Stadium, here.

First Lt. Francine Lane, executive officer for 218th Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Abn. Div. Sust. Bde., volunteered to speak to the student athletes.

Natalie Pyle, platoon leader for the Ground Support Equipment section in 584th Support Maintenance Company, 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, 101st Abn. Div. APSU Soccer Govs get 2-0 home win over Evansville

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In front of hundreds of fans at Governors FanFest, Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team defeated Evansville 2-0, Sunday, in its home opener at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

The Govs improved to 3-0 on the year, the hottest start to a season since 2013 which also saw the program win three-straight to open.

Perfect Saturday as APSU Volleyball upends USC Upstate in five sets

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityJohnson City, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team closed the match with a furious rally and claimed a five-set victory (25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-10) against USC Upstate, Saturday afternoon, in its final match at the DoubleTree Hotel Buccaneer Challenge in Brooks Gym.

Austin Peay (2-1) trailed USC Upstate 12-4 in the third set, with the match tied at one set each.

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityJohnson City, TN – A trio double-digit kill performances helped Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team post a three-set victory (25-23, 25-16, 27-25) against Troy, Saturday morning, at the DoubleTree Hotel Buccaneer Challenge in Brooks Gym.

Austin Peay (1-1) got on a roll to end the first set and used that momentum to post a 2-0 lead in the match.

Big East Tennessee (1-0) runs were the dominant story in all three sets.

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team hosts Evansville, 1:00pm, Sunday, in its home opener at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field, highlighting a full day of activities at the annual Governors FanFest.

Admission to the match is free. Posters, inflatables for kids and free food from Dairy Queen and Dominos will be provided throughout the afternoon.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – On Sunday, August 28th, 2016 Governors FanFest will givie the local community a chance to meet, greet and play with Austin Peay State University student-athletes.

At 1:00pm, Austin Peay soccer will host Evansville in its 2016 home opener from Morgan Brothers Field, marking the first opportunity for Governor fans to see 2015 All-OVC performers McKenzie Dixon and Gina Fabbro and Pamela Penaloza, a member of Colombia’s U-20 National Team, wearing the new crest of APSU soccer.

OVC Preseason Poll ranks APSU Men’s Cross Country ninth, Women’s tenth

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference released its 2016 men’s and women’s cross country predicted order of finish, Wednesday, voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Austin Peay State University men’s team was ranked tied for ninth in the poll, while the women were predicted to finish 10th. Last season, the men’s and women’s teams each had three top three finishes, including wins in the annual Austin Peay Cross Country Festival.

On the men’s side, the Govs will be led by three seniors with ample experience – Daniel Hamm, Kyle Harmon and Martin Rejman.

APSU’s Kirstin Robertson claims first OVC Player of the Week award

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – Junior forward Kirstin Robertson, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Tuesday.

The award is Robertson’s first of her Austin Peay career after entering the program out of Harpeth Hall School.

Instant Peay Play: Fast start to season bodes well for APSU Women’s Soccer

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s women’s soccer team got off to a 2-0 start this past weekend, to open its 2016 season, and if history holds suit the Governors are now their way to a winning season.

In the program’s 15-year history, the Govs have only had three seasons — prior to this one — where they’ve open play with at least back-to-back wins; with the others coming in the 2010, 2011 and 2013 seasons.

In the 2011 and 2013 seasons, the Govs opened their respective campaigns with 3-0 starts on their way to 9-8-1 and 11-6-2 records.
