APSU Lady Govs Golf claim OVC Sportsmanship Award

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – On Tuesday the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Tennessee Tech University men’s team and the Austin Peay State University women’s team are the recipients of the 2012-13 Team Sportsmanship Awards for golf.

Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA. Included in the areas for evaluation are the conduct of student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators and fans.

49 APSU Student Athletes Receive Degrees

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN - A record 1,222 students were conferred degrees, Friday, as Austin Peay State University held its 84th Spring Commencement in the Dunn Center and 49 of those were Govs and Lady Govs student-athletes.

The morning commencement saw students earn degrees from the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Science and Mathematics and the School of Technology and Public Management will participate in commencement.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After carving out superb spring softball seasons, Austin Peay State University first baseman/pitcher Lauren de Castro and shortstop Kayla Davidson were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference, Tuesday night, being named first- and second-team All-OVC, respectively.

APSU Athlete of the Week Craig Massoni

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN - Junior first baseman Craig Massoni, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

His two-run home run in Game 1 tied the game in the ninth inning and forced extra innings, with the Govs winning in the 10th; it was his team-best 10th home run in 2013. He also had a two-run single in the second game and had an RBI double in Game 3.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Volleyball releases 2013 Schedule

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Contests against Southeastern Conference foes Tennessee and Missouri highlight the Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball 2013 schedule, head coach Taylor Mott released Monday.

Austin Peay , which posted a 17-16 record last season, will begin the 2013 campaign with 16 away games – the opening weekend in August and the entirety of September. The Lady Govs will open a nine-match home slate with an October 1st contest against Murray State.

Austin Peay State University Softball sees Tournament run end on season’s final day at Murray State

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMurray, KYAustin Peay State University’s softball team went into the final day of the regular season May 5th knowing it needed two wins to punch its ticket into the Ohio Valley Conference post-season tournament for the first time since 2007.

APSU Lady Govs Golf Sign Two more signees for 2013-14

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s golf team has added a second pair of freshmen to its roster for the 2013-14 season.

Kelsey Schutt, a four-year state performer at Jackson High School (Jackson Township, Ohio), and Amber Bosworth, a three-year performer at Carroll Senior High School (Southlake, Texas), will join a suddenly young Lady Govs golf team.

APSU Softball cancelled due to wet conditions

 

Austin Peay Lady Govs LogoMurray, KYAustin Peay State University’s softball team had its May 4th Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Murray State cancelled due to wet field conditions.

The three-game OVC series is now down to a May 5th doubleheader, starting at 11:00am., to wrap up the regular season at Central Park – just off the Murray State campus.Despite the cancelled game May 4th, the Lady Govs are still in the running for a berth into the OVC post-season tournament, with Morehead State losing both of its games to Eastern Kentucky on May 4th by scores of 3-1 and 4-3. «Read the rest of this article»
