APSU Lady Govs Tennis opens spring season with a pair of road matches

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team begins its quest for an Ohio Valley Conference championship with two road matches, the first against Middle Tennessee, 10:00am, Saturday before taking on Chattanooga, 1:00pm, Sunday.

The Governors fell in a heartbreaker in last season’s OVC title match against Eastern Kentucky, but with the EKU tennis program ceasing to exist, the Govs should be amongst the favorites.

The Governors (7-9, 2-3 OVC) finish up the most daunting road stretch of the season looking for their first road win of the season.

APSU Women's BasketballEdwardsville, IL – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team battled valiantly, but were defeated on a last-second shot by SIU Edwardsville, 69-68, Thursday, at the Valadabene Center.

The Governors (7-9, 2-3 OVC) used a 13-0 run to close out the third quarter, but fell just shy of their first road win of the season.

APSU Track and Field heads to Nashville for Vanderbilt Invitational

APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – Continuing a season-long trend which seemingly mandates that it competes in Nashville every other meet, Austin Peay State University track and field returns to the Music City this weekend for the 2019 Vanderbilt Invitational.

The two-day event begins Friday at Vanderbilt’s multipurpose facility just behind the school’s Outdoor Track and Field Complex between 25th Avenue South and Natchez Trace.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 20/17 Tennessee (12-4, 1-3 SEC) plays its second straight road contest, as the Lady Vols head to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama (9-8, 1-3 SEC) on Thursday night, January 17th. Tip-off is slated for 8:02pm CT (9:02pm ET) at Coleman Coliseum, with the game being carried by the SEC Network and the Lady Vol Radio Network.

This marks the 46th meeting between these programs, with Alabama holding a four-game winning streak over the Lady Vols and taking the past two games in Tuscaloosa. In addition to attempting to halt that series streak, the Lady Vols will be seeking to end a three-game losing skid that began on January 6th. UT has lost its last three contests to Missouri (66-64), Kentucky (73-71) and Georgia (66-62) by a combined total of eight points.

APSU Track and Field has solid performance at Vulcan Invitational

APSU Women's Track and FieldBirmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University (APSU) track and field got its first look at the site of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at Saturday’s Vulcan Invite, where a number of Govs found the new accommodations to their liking.

As a group, Austin Peay enjoyed 14 top-10 finishes, with another pole vault win highlighting a strong weekend for head coach Doug Molnar‘s crew.

APSU Beach Volleyball releases 2019 Schedule

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team is set to begin its third season of competition and second year hosting home events at the Govs Beach Volleyball Complex.

The 2019 campaign gets underway March 8th-10th when the Governors travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama for The March to May tournament, held at the site of the 2019 NCAA Championship. They will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, New Orleans, Spring Hill and Southern Miss.
