APSU Governors, Lady Govs Cross Country 2015 Schedule announced

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men and women’s cross-country teams unveiled their 2015 slates, Wednesday, which are highlighted by the second Austin Peay Cross Country Festival as well as trips to the Greater Louisville Classic and the Cross-Country Only National Invitational.

The Governors and Lady Govs will open the 2015 season with three consecutive meets inside Tennessee borders. The season begins September 5th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers.

Austin Peay Softball coach Stephanie Paris steps down to enter private industry

Paris informed interim APSU Athletics Director Cheryl Holt, Sunday, about her decision as well as her players.

Former APSU Soccer player Tatiana Ariza helps make history in magical Round of 16 run

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Colombia shocked the soccer world in the 2015 World Cup, and former Austin Peay State University women’s soccer standout Tatiana Ariza had a front row seat.

Las Cafeteras – team nickname meaning The Coffee Growers – had never scored or earned a victory in a World Cup prior to this year’s competition north of the border. However, that all changed in the group stage which created some buzz around the globe.

Instant Peay Play: Former APSU Lady Govs soccer player Tatiana Ariza part of historic run at World Cup

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Former Austin Peay State University women’s soccer standout Tatiana Ariza has been on the world’s biggest stage before, but this year at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup she has helped the Columbia National women’s team to its deepest run in their history.

Ariza, who helped Austin Peay to 47 wins from 2010-13, has been on four World Cup level teams for Columbia, starting with their Under-17 and Under-20 teams and the past two national teams that qualified for one of the top 24 spots at the World Cup Tournament.

Instant Peay Play: Former APSU softball standout Lauren de Castro helps former high school to state title in California

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Lauren de Castro, just a year removed from a three-time First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference softball career at Austin Peay State University, put her playing experience to work this spring in being a part of the coaching staff at Torrance (CA) High School and winning the CIF Southern Section Division 4 title.

The tournament victory was the first CIF Southern Section title for the Torrance Tartars (27-9) since 1991 and would translate to winning a state championship title game in the Tennessee State Secondary Athletic Association (TSSAA).

APSU Governors Golf, Lady Govs again to participate in Golfweek Challenge

Austin Peay State University Sports Information - , APSU, Governors, Govs, Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For the second time in four years Austin Peay State University men and women’s golf teams will open their fall season at Pawleys Island, South Carolina, in the Golfweek Program Challenge, September 6th-8th.

The event, which is now in its fifth year, is an opportunity for universities to showcase their entire golf program. In 2012, the Golf Govs finished fourth out of 12 teams while the Lady Govs were seventh.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Basketball rounds out coaching staff with Tessah Holt

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Tessah Holt will round out the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball coaching staff as its third assistant coach hire, Tuesday, by head coach David Midlick.

Holt, a Fayetteville, Georgia, native, recently completed her master’s degree at West Florida and was the women’s basketball graduate assistant in 2014-15.

APSU Lady Govs Basketball adds Chelsea Turner to Coaching Staff

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TNChelsea Turner will join the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball coaching staff, head coach David Midlick announced, Monday.

Turner, a native of Norman, Oklahoma, has spent the past two seasons at Tulsa as the program’s Director of Player Development and Team Manager.
