Austin Peay State University Men’s Basketball gets 76-52 win over Oakland City

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Freshman guard Josh Robinson came off the bench to score 23 points, including seven three pointers, to lift Austin Peay State University to a 76-52 non-conference victory against Oakland City, Thursday night, in Dave Aaron Arena.

The victory was the Govs’ second straight and improved them to 4-7 on the season.  Division II Oakland City, which came in at 7-1, recorded the contest as an exhibition.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior guard Ed Dyson, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Dyson led the Govs in scoring as the Govs split a pair of home contests against Lipscomb and Troy last week. He averaged 18.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the floor.

The Washington, D.C., native posted a season-high 21 points in Saturday’s loss to Lipscomb, hitting four shots from beyond the arc.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Brett Wishon connected on six second-half three pointers, including two that broke open a close game late, as Lipscomb held off Austin Peay State University, 68-59, Saturday in non-conference basketball action in Dave Aaron Arena.

The victory improved Lipscomb to 4-5 overall while APSU lost its third straight in falling to 2-7.

But that was one of the few things that went right for the Governors against Southern Illinois as the home team rolled to a 71-49 non-conference victory.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – With Campaign 2015 between Governor Peay X and The Gov heating up, both candidates have lobbied for an increase in ticketing options for Austin Peay basketball during the month of December and their concerns have been addressed.

In fact, kids eighth-grade and under who cast a vote for either Governor Peay X or The Gov at one of Austin Peay’s three upcoming home dates (December 6th, December 13th and December 15th) will receive a complimentary full season-ticket package.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University head basketball coach Dave Loos was part of a six-coach panel Wednesday that spoke at the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff luncheon, held at the Curb Event Center.

Loos, Belmont’s Rick Byrd, Middle Tennessee’s Kermit Davis, Tennessee State coach Dana Ford, Lipscomb coach Casey Alexander and Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings answered topical questions from radio personality George Plaster, of 102.5 The Game in Nashville who served as emcee of the event.

Austin Peay State University releases 2015 Baseball Schedule

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Games against Tennessee and Memphis highlight the 2015 Austin Peay State University’s baseball team’s schedule, announced Wednesday.

The Govs, who play a November 1st scrimmage against Tennessee, will face the Volunteers during the regular season with a 5:00pm contest on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th). Nearly one month later, Memphis will visit Raymond C. Hand Park for the first time since 2007 with an April 14th contest.
