Oklahoma visits APSU Baseball for three game series at Raymond C. Hand Park

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team wraps up its 2016 regular-season slate with a nonconference three-game series against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Due to inclement weather, the teams will start the series with a 3:00pm, Thursday doubleheader. After an off day, Friday, to avoid rain the teams will conclude the regular season with an 11:30am, Saturday contest.

Lipscomb Bisons rally late to defeat APSU Governors Baseball, 8-7

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityNashville, TN – Lipscomb rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth, finishing with a two-out, walk-off single to defeat Austin Peay State University’s baseball team, 8-7, Tuesday night at Dugan Field.

A pitcher’s duel through seven innings opened up in the final two frames as both Austin Peay and Lipscomb scored five runs apiece.

Austin Peay’s Logan Gray selected APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior Logan Gray, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In hitting .611 (11-for-18) with four home runs, 14 RBI and seven runs scored last week, Gray not only led the Govs to a sweep in their Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Kentucky and a midweek win against Lipscomb.

The Leawood, Kansas native earned adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Player of the Week, was one of six players named to the Louisville Slugger® National Player of the Week list and was recognized for his good work in Baseball America’s weekly “Off the Bat” report.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Right fielder Chase Hamilton hit a grand slam and third baseman Logan Gray hit a two-run home run as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team powered its way past Lipscomb, 11-8 in Tuesday night nonconference action at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay starter John Sparks (1-1) worked out of a jam after allowing the first two Lipscomb batters to reach base. He would surrender just one run on back-to-back fielder’s choice plays before catcher Ridge Smith ended the frame by throwing out a runner at second base.

Rose Park. With the win, Austin Peay clinched the three-game series, 2-1, for its fourth straight OVC series victory.

Trailing by a single run after six innings, Austin Peay (21-13, 12-6 OVC) began its seventh-inning rally with one out on the board.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field host APSU Invitation this weekend

APSU Women's Track and Field - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For the first time since hosting the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, Austin Peay State University’s track and field team will host a collegiate home meet with this weekend’s APSU Invitational.

The two-day meet is scheduled to begin 5:00pm, Friday, at Governors Stadium and continue 10:00am, Saturday.
