Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN –  Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team fell to Chattanooga, 6-1, Saturday, at the Governors Tennis Center.

For the second consecutive match, the Govs (1-2) allowed the opposition to gain the first point, with the Mocs (1-4) earning the nod in doubles.

Austin Peay State University Governors Tennis selected fifth in OVC Preseason Poll

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team was selected to finish fifth in the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference predicted order of finish as voted by the league’s head coaches, Friday. In addition, junior Aaron Jumonville was ranked the fifth-best men’s player in the conference rankings.

APSU Tennis falls to Chattanooga Mocs in season opener

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision against Chattanooga in its season opener, Saturday.

The Governors began the day finding success in doubles play, leading to a much-needed point. Juniors Aaron Jumonville and James Mitchell knocked off Pablo Llebeili and John Peacy, 6-2, to set the tone at the No. 1 position.

UT Vols Basketball hosts in state rival Vanderbilt Commodores Wednesday

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee renews its rivalry with in-state, SEC foe Vanderbilt with a late-night clash on Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tipoff between the Volunteers and Commodores is slated for 9:00pm ET/8:00pm CT on the SEC Network.

Wednesday marks the 189th meeting all-time between UT and VU in a series that dates to 1922. It is the second-longest series in Tennessee basketball history (trailing the 218 all-time meetings between the Vols and Kentucky), and UT’s 116 wins over the Commodores are its most over any opponent.

Sophomore guard Josh Robinson was named OVC Player of the Week after leading the Governors to an 84-77 victory against Wofford, Tuesday. It came a week after Chris Horton earned the distinction.

Austin Peay State University’s Chris Horton earns OVC, Mid-Major Madness Player of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TNChris Horton, who authored one of greatest single-game performances in Austin Peay State University basketball history, has been named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference and Mid-Major Madness Player of the Week.

Horton converted 16-of-17 shots against Lipscomb, Sunday, to score a career-best 37 points to go with 13 rebounds—his ninth straight double-double and 10th this season. He made his first 14 shots before Lipscomb’s J.J. Butler blocked him from behind with 1:13 left in the game. Horton then finished with two slam dunks off passes from Khalil Davis.
