Austin Peay State University’s Grant Leaver, Ed Bunio, Bob Bradley selected for APSU Athletic Hall of Fame

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – One of the greatest golfers in the Governors illustrious history plus a former football standout who returned to his alma mater to help coach the program to its only Ohio Valley Conference title have been selected to Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame.

In addition, a former superb basketball player from Austin Peay’s small college era was selected to the Hall of Fame as part of it Honors category.

Grant Leaver, a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree who won five individual championships and played in the 2008 NCAA East Regional; Ed Bunio, a two-way player who was an All-OVC offensive tackle for the 1964 8-1-1 club and later was the architect for 1977 Governors’ championship defense, have been elected to APSU Athletics Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Bob Bradley, who was a key member of two College Division NCAA teams in 1960-61, was chosen as this year’s honors inductee.

95 Austin Peay State University student-athletes earn OVC academic honors

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – Ninety-five Austin Peay State University student-athletes were recognized on the Ohio Valley Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for their academic achievements during the 2013-14 academic year. That total included 15 student-athletes who received the league’s Academic Medal of Honor.

“The greatest metric of our success at Austin Peay is our commitment to excellence in the classroom,” said van der Merwe. “The student-athletes at this great University are special and represent the very best of the Ohio Valley Conference. We are proud of what this says about our student-athletes, our University, and the many great faculty and staff to rally behind our students every day.”

Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf coach Kirk Kayden resigns

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN - Kirk Kayden, who has guided Austin Peay State University men’s golf program to unprecedented success during 10 years as the program’s head, resigned Thursday afternoon to accept another head-coaching opportunity.

Kayden guided the Govs to two Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championships since taking over in 2004, capturing the crown in 2009 and 2013.

APSU Governors Golf releases fall schedule

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN - It will be a mixture of some familiar tournaments and different ones greeting a much younger Austin Peay State University men’s golf team this fall.

The Govs, who lost four-year starters Marco Iten and Anthony Bradley along with four-season contributor Trey Tarpley among others, potentially could feature an extremely young lineup, although rising senior Tucker Wallace and juniors Chris Baker and Austin Kramer will offer much experience.

APSU Governor’s Marco Iten grinds out solid round to open NCAA Golf Championships

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUHutchinson, KS – Austin Peay State University golfer Marco Iten saw his string of under-par rounds in the post season end at five on May 24th, as he finished up his opening round at the NCAA Division I National Golf Championships, but the recently graduated senior found a way to grind out a solid round of two-over 72.
