Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team begins the 2012 campaign with a matinee performance – a noon, Friday contest against UAB at Bartow Arena. The Lady Govs are 15-21 all time in season openers, including a 2-4 record under head coach Carrie Daniels.

APSU and UAB will meet for the fourth consecutive season, with UAB winning the previous three meetings.

The Lady Govs are 5-1 in exhibition contests under head coach Carrie Daniels, including five consecutive wins against NAIA competition.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball hosts Louisville as part of 13-game home slate in 2012-13

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Thirteen home contests, including a visit from Big East member Louisville, highlight the 2012-13 Austin Peay State University women’s basketball schedule released by head coach Carrie Daniels, Tuesday.

Austin Peay will face seven teams that played in the 2012 postseason, including Louisville and Vanderbilt which both reached the NCAA Tournament’s second round. In addition, the Lady Govs will square off against five teams that posted 20-plus wins last season.

Former Austin Peay Governor Corey Gipson returning as APSU assistant coach

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Corey Gipson, who helped lead Austin Peay State University‘s mens basketball team to consecutive Ohio Valley Conference championships in 2002-03 and 2003-04, is returning to his alma mater as assistant basketball coach.

Gipson, who spent the last two seasons as associate head coach at North Carolina Greensboro, will replace Scott Combs, who left earlier this spring to become head coach at Martin Methodist.
