Clarksville Police Captain Scott Thornton rescues injured Owl

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department reports it turned out to be an injured owl’s lucky day.

Captain Scott Thornton, CPD, was headed to work this morning and came across an injured owl on Salem Road. It was sitting in the middle of the road and unable to fly.

As Captain Thornton stopped to try and help, the owl managed to limp its way off the road into the wood line.

Cumberland River at Clarksville to Crest Tonight

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service reports water levels on the Cumberland River from the Nashville area to Ashland City have crested and are beginning to subside, and most locations should fall below Flood Stage by this evening.

Near Clarksville and Dover, river levels will continue to rise slightly, before cresting later this evening. At Clarksville, the Cumberland River is projected to crest at 51.5 feet around midnight tonight. The Cumberland River will crest just after midnight in Dover at 66.8 feet. The stage for minor flooding is 67.0 feet.

Flood Warning extended for the Cumberland River at Clarksville

 

National Weather Service (NWS)

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning for the Cumberland River at Clarksville until Thursday, February 28th at 3:00am.

At least an additional one half to one inch of rainfall is expected across Clarksville-Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee with locally higher amounts possible on already saturated ground conditions through the evening hours tonight.

Water levels will continue to rise through tonight around the Nashville area and Minor to Moderate flooding is expected to occur from the Edenwold area through downtown Nashville, and to the Bordeaux area. Flooding could persist through Monday, and linger through most of next week.

Flood Advisory in effect for Cumberland River at Clarksville

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the Cumberland River at Clarksville in Montgomery County.

Water levels on the Cumberland River below Old Hickory Dam will continue to slowly rise through today. Locations around Nashville from Old Hickory Dam through Bordeaux could likely reach or exceed Flood Stage late today or early Sunday.

Those with interests along the river should monitor future forecasts and anticipate a Flood Warning being issued later today.

Clarksville Police report Motorcycle Crash at Riverside Drive and McClure Street

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, March 4th, 2017, around 4:16pm, a 57 year old man, riding a 2002 Harley motorcycle was traveling north on Riverside Drive in the left travel lane when the traffic stopped abruptly in front of him.

He swerved into the center lane to avoid a collision and laid the motorcycle down. He was ejected off the motorcycle and rolled multiple times.
