Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans open the 2016 regular season at home against the Minnesota Vikings on September 1th1 and host the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos on December 11th. The Titans also will appear in a Thursday night primetime contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Nissan Stadium on October 27th.
“Opening up with Minnesota, a playoff team, will be good test for us at home,” said Titans head coach Mike Mularkey. “We haven’t opened up at home since 2012, it will be nice for our fans – opening day for our fans, there is nothing like it.”
Denver, CO – On Monday, March 7th, 2016, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning announces his retirement during a press conference at the UCHealth Training Center. Manning talked about his retirement during the press conference.
“In my very first NFL game, I completed my first pass to Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk. I threw a touchdown in that same game to Marvin Harrison, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this August. The quarterback for our opponent, the Miami Dolphins, was, after my dad, my favorite player – Hall of Famer Dan Marino – who on the first third down of the game completed a 25-yard skinny post and it was the damndest throw I’d ever seen. Later, I completed a pass to tight end Marcus Pollard down the middle and somebody hit me really hard and after I got up I told myself, ‘I know I can play in this league.’
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with cornerback Brice McCain. McCain has been in the NFL for seven seasons.
McCain (5-9, 190) has played 100 games during his seven-year NFL career with the Houston Texans (2009-13), Pittsburgh Steelers (2014) and Miami Dolphins (2015). Last year with the Dolphins, McCain played in 14 games with 11 starts and totaled 39 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception.
Jon Robinson and Mike Mularkey chosen to lead team into 2016 off season
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans enter 2016 with new leadership at the top of football operations. General manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Mularkey were named to their respective posts less than two weeks after the conclusion of the 2015 regular season, charged by controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk with building a consistent playoff contender.
It marked the first time since 1981 in which the franchise hired a general manager and head coach in the same off season. With the NFL Scouting Combine, free agency, the NFL Draft and the players’ off season workout program on the horizon, Robinson and Mularkey have launched their efforts in earnest.
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have hired Mike Mularkey on a permanent basis, removing his interim tag and making him the 18th head coach in franchise history.
“The vision Mike presented for our football team during this search as well as the character, integrity, and leadership skills he displayed during the last two months of the season makes him the right coach for the Tennessee Titans,” said Titans Controlling Owner and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors Amy Adams Strunk.
