APSU SoftballOxford, OH – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team’s Morgan Rackel hurled her fourth shutout of the season, Saturday at the Miami Invitational, while Danielle Liermann became the program’s all-time leader in doubles and total extra-base hits, as the Govs defeated Dayton, 6-0, before falling late to Miami, 6-2, in the night cap.

APSU Softball loses to Dayton, beats Miami

APSU SoftballOxford, OH – Austin Peay State University’s softball team got a 10-strikeout, three-hit performance from Morgan Rackel, Friday at Miami Softball Stadium in the opening day of the Miami Invitational, as the Governors defeated Miami 4-1 after being edged by Dayton in the opener, 8-7.

The Govs will continue play at the Miami Invitational Saturday with rematches versus Dayton (12:30pm) and Miami (5:30pm).

APSU Softball plays in Miami Invitational this weekend

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team will head north for its final in-season tournament of the year, this weekend, as it travels to Oxford, Ohio, to participate in the Miami Invitational.

The Governors (12-11) will open play, 2:00pm, Friday versus Dayton, followed by a 4:30pm matchup versus tournament host Miami University.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Vols Football is fresh off a huge road win over No. 21 Auburn last Saturday, Tennessee returns home to host No. 1 Alabama for its first game in Neyland Stadium in nearly a month.

Kickoff for the annual Third Saturday in October rivalry game will feature a national television broadcast on CBS at 2:30pm CT. Brad Nessler (play-by-play) and Gary Danielson (analyst) will be on the call in the booth while Jamie Erdahl will be reporting from the sidelines.

The win in a foul-filled contest (62 combined fouls) moved Austin Peay to 12-10 (7-3 OVC) on the season; Morehead State falls to 6-15 (2-8).

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Six Austin Peay State University men’s basketball players scored in double figures as a total team effort helped the Governors fend off Eastern Kentucky, 90-84, Thursday, in the Dunn Center.

The Govs (11-10, 6-3 OVC) got out to a hot start, hitting nine of their first 13 shots to double up the Colonels, 24-12, nearly halfway through the opening period.

APSU Governors Basketball falls in overtime to Evansville

APSU Men's BasketballEvansville, IN – A dominant performance from freshman Terry Taylor led to a late rally on the road forced to force overtime, but Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team simply ran out of time against Evansville, falling 78-74 to the Purple Aces at the Ford Center, Saturday.

Taylor had one of the best performances of a still-young Austin Peay career, pouring in a career-best 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting to lead all scorers.
