Clarksville, TN – When Austin Peay defeated Tennessee State, 37-34, it allowed the Govs to open 2-0 in the OVC for the first time since 1977.
When APSU rallied from being down 27-6 to be at Tennessee State, October 1st, that 21-point deficit was the largest overcome by the Governors in school history. The previous largest deficit was 17 points, October 28th, 1978, when the Governors rallied from a 17-0 deficit to defeat Middle Tennessee, 28-17.
After owning a school-record 26 seniors in 2009, the Govs had half that many (13) in 2010. This season the Govs have even fewer, eight.

Clarksville, TN – A victory against Tennessee State, Saturday, would allow the Govs start 2-0 in the OVC for the first time since 1977.
The Govs-TSU match up will serve as each program’s first of the 2011 Sergeant York Trophy Series. In fact, Tennessee Tech is playing at UT Martin also in a Sgt. York Trophy game on Saturday.

 Ryan White ran for 132 yards on 27 carries to help the Governors defeat Eastern Kentucky, 23-17 last Saturday.

Clarksville, TN – This is Austin Peay’s 39th Ohio Valley Conference season. The Govs are 93-171-2 alltime in OVC play, including 9-29 in OVC openers. The Govs won their OVC opener a year ago, 26-23, against Tennessee State.
After owning a school-record 26 seniors in 2009, the Govs had half that many (13) in 2010. This season the Govs have even fewer, eight.
Austin Peay last won a football game, 26-23, against Tennessee State, September 18th. They enter the contest amidst a 10-game losing streak.

Clarksville, TN – This is Austin Peay’s 75th season of college football, including nine non-scholarship seasons (1997-2005). They enter the contest with a 271-468-16 record.
Austin Peay has enjoyed only 18 winning seasons in 74 years of football and only two winning seasons since the turn of the century–a 7-5 mark in 2002 as a non-scholarship program and a 7-4 record in 2007 in Rick Christophel’s first season.

Cincinnati, OH – This is Austin Peay’s 75th season of college football, including nine non-scholarship seasons (1997-2005). They enter the season with a 271-467-16 record.
Austin Peay is 27-45-2 in openers in its previous 74 years of football, including last season’s 38-6 home victory against Cumberland. The Govs have won the season opener five times in the last 16 seasons.
This is the third time Austin Peay has opened the season with Cincinnati, the previous two being in 1985 and 1993.
