Tennessee Titans lose 24-23 to Minnesota Vikings in final Preseason Game

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – With 1:38 left in the game, the Tennessee Titans were down 24-23 to the Minnesota Vikings. The Titans had the ball at the Tennessee 20 yard line. Tennessee quarterback Rusty Smith quickly completes passes to Jalen Parmele for 5 yards and Jake Doyle for 17 yards moving the ball to the Tennessee 42.

In the shotgun, Smith gets a bad snap from center Brian Schwenke which he is unable to handle and Collins Ukwu recovers the ball with 0:47 left for Minnesota. Vikings quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson takes two knees to end the game.

Tennessee Titans place Kevin Walter on PUP list, release Markelle Martin, bringing roster down to 75

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – By today, August 27th, all NFL teams have to trim their rosters down to 75 players by 3:00pm CT. Yesterday, the Tennesse Titans waived 13 players bring the roster down to 77.

Today, the Titans placed veteran receiver Kevin Walter on the physically unable to perform list (PUP). This means Walter will miss the first six weeks of the 2013 season while he recovers from back surgery.

Tennessee Titans select UT Vols wide receiver Justin Hunter in the second round, 34th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft

 

Tennessee TitansJustin HunterNashville, TN – In the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennesee Titans move up to the 2nd pick (34th overall), from the Chiefs through the 49ers, to grab Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Justin Hunter.

Hunter becomes the 332nd Tennessee product selected in the NFL Draft, and the 29th to be taken in the second round.

Hunter was fourth in SEC in catches per game (6.1), 37th in NCAA in 2012. He led the Vols with 73 catches for 1,083 yards and nine receiving touchdowns.

Tennessee Titans Waive Safety Jordan Babineaux, Guard Mitch Petrus

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN - The Tennessee Titans waived safety Jordan Babineaux and guard Mitch Petrus.

In addition, they were informed by guard Steve Hutchinson that he will be retiring after a decorated 12-year NFL career.

Babineaux, who’s played nine seasons in the NFL, signed with Tennessee as a free agent in 2011. He recorded a team-high 117 tackles in 14 starts and 16 games that season and added 92 tackles in 12 starts and 16 games in 2012. The newly-formed foundation will focus on youth football, health and safety and community, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who announced the formation of the new organization at an NFL meeting in Dallas, TX.
