Austin Peay Lady Govs Tennis picked to finish third in Ohio Valley Conference

Brentwood, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team was picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, released Friday by the conference office.
In head coach Ross Brown‘s first season, the Lady Govs are expected to contend for a top spot in the conference.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team ran roughshod over visiting Chattanooga, Sunday, at Morgan Brothers Field. Two goals from junior Tatiana Ariza, including the game-winner, led the Lady Govs to a 4-1 victory against the Mocs.
“It was a great game for us,” said head coach Kelley Guth. “We put the pieces of the puzzle together today. We talked after our loss Friday about executing better and they really did it today.”

Austin Peay Governors Golf’s Anthony Bradley moves up eight places in final round of NCAA Golf Regional

Bowling Green, KY – Playing his finest golf of the weekend, Austin Peay State University sophomore Anthony Bradley shot a two-over 74, Saturday, to move up eight places in the final round of the NCAA Golf Regional, held at The Club of Olde Stone.
Bradley’s 74 left him at 232 for the three rounds and a 56th -place finish. He entered the day tied for 64th.

Tatiana Ariza named OVC Player of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Sophomore Tatiana Ariza, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, Tuesday.
Not only did Tatiana tally 14 points in the Lady Govs’ season-opening road trip sweep of Alabama A&M and Chattanooga, she did it in an efficient fashion. The Bogota, Colombia native – who recently participated in the FIFA Women’s World Cup – scored five goals on nine shots.
In the season-opener at Alabama A&M, Ariza registered her first career hat trick as the Lady Govs scored a program-record 14 goals against the Bulldogs. She also tallied two assists in the contest, matching a career best. «Read the rest of this article»

Chattanooga, TN – A pair of bookend goals by sophomore Tatiana Ariza opened and closed a 4-0 win by Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team against Chattanooga, Sunday afternoon.
Ariza scored the game’s first goal on a penalty kick in the 39th minute to make it 1-0, and added the game’s fourth goal in the 82nd minute. Not only was it her third career multi-goal game, it also was her second consecutive after netting a hat trick against Alabama A&M, Friday.

Govs-Chattanooga to begin four-game series in 2013

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will meet Chattanooga in a four-game series beginning in 2013, head coach Rick Christophel announced Friday.
The Governors and Mocs will meet for the first time since 1968 when they renew the series in 2013 with a September 14th contest at Finley Stadium. The last time the two in-state squads met, Austin Peay Hall of Fame member Harold “Red” Roberts was beginning his freshman campaign. High tempo tennis gives Govs season-opening win

Chattanooga, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team earned a 6-1 win at Chattanooga, Friday night.
Head coach Malik Tabet’s young Governors team played high-energy tennis from start to finish and disposed of the Mocs with ease, unlike last year’s nail biting 4-3 win in Clarksville. Freshman Jasmin Ademovic, who not only played No. 1 singles, but also team with freshman Remi Calleja for an exciting tiebreak win at No. 2 doubles, fueled the Govs in his first collegiate match.
