Clarksville Parks and Recreation to take part in Summer Food Service Program

 

Meals to be served at Summer Youth Program sites

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is participating in the Summer Food Service Program throughout the duration of the City’s Summer Youth Program.

At 14 of the 15 program sites (all sites excluding Crow Recreation Center) meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service (not all prohibited bases apply to all programs).

Montgomery Central Elementary School Nationally Recognized for Academic Achievement in 2017

 

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery Central Elementary is one of 63 U.S. schools to have been named a 2017 National Title I Distinguished School. Schools are selected either for exceptional student performance overall, for significantly closing the achievement gap between student groups, or for excellence in serving special populations of students. Clarksville Police Department releases School Bus and School Zone Safety Tips

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department has been receiving numerous complaints about school bus and school zone violations.  We wanted to take this opportunity to remind the public about the rules of the road in school zones and actions to take when schools buses are in operation.

CPD’s Traffic Unit Supervisor Sgt Johnny Ransdell— “Safety in school zones and adhering to traffic laws when school buses are operating is an absolutely necessity.  We will be issuing citations for people violating school bus laws and speeding in school zones”.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Open Enrollment for the 2018-19 school year is available now through February 20th, 2018

 

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has announced that specific grade levels in nine elementary schools and three middle schools are available for open enrollment for the 2017-18 school year now through February 20th, 2018.

The School System has developed a limited open enrollment policy for students who wish to attend a school or program outside the area for which they are zoned.

Montgomery Central High School and Elementary School are Points of Pride

 

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has announced that Montgomery Central High School counselor Bethany Erb was named Tennessee High School Counselor of the Year by the Tennessee School Counseling Association.

Montgomery Central Elementary School has been selected as one of two Tennessee schools named to the National Title I Distinguished School Program.

SpiritFest draws huge crowd to Downtown Clarksville

 

Clarksville's SpiritfestClarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville was the site of the 3rd Annual SpiritFest Saturday, a holiday event that preceded this year’s 58th Annual Clarksville Lighted Christmas Parade.

Festivities were held in an area that included streets and parking lots between First Presbyterian Church on Main Street, Trinity Episcopal Church on Franklin Street, and the new Downtown Commons space.

The 3rd Annual SpiritFest, featuring a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, preceded this year's Christmas Parade Saturday.
