Clarksville, TN – The 11th annual Rivers and Spires Festival concludes today in Historic Downtown Clarksville. The event gets started at 10:00am with food vendors, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities. The Children’s Parade with start at 1:00pm.
There will be acts and music going on five separate stages all day and into the night. And one of the best things about Rivers and Spires, is that it’s free and open to the public.

Fire at Montgomery County EMS Station 23
Clarksville, TN – Wednesday morning, around 9:45am at the EMS Station 23 across the street from the Hilltop Market at 385 Highway 149, a member of the on duty EMS crew smelled smoke, and when checking for the source found the garage where their ambulance was parked engulfed in flames.
As one of the crew responded to the fire, the other called for support from area Fire Departments; units from Clarksville Fire Rescue, Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department, East Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department, and the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department responded to help fight the flames which were under control within 20 minutes of the initial call being placed.
 An ambulance was the source of the flames that destroyed EMS Station 23 on Highway 149 in South Montgomery County earlier today

Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries provides “Warm Souls Christmas Celebration”
Clarksville TN – The 5th annual “Warm Souls Christmas Celebration” was held Monday at the Hilldale Baptist Church Activities Center on Old Farmers Road.
Over 1200 Clarksville area citizens were treated to live music, a free shopping spree, Christmas portraits, free haircuts, free gifts, and more, provided by Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries.
 Christmas presents flowed out from under the Christmas Tree at the Radical Mission “Warm Souls Christmas Celebration” held Christmas eve.

Montgomery Central Elementary School’s 2nd annual Veteran’s Day Celebration

Cunningham, TN – On Friday, November 9th, 2012, Montgomery Central Elementary School held their 2nd annual “Veteran’s Day Celebration” to salute our Military in honor of Veteran’s Day. All of the students participated in the event with group performances as well as grade level performances.
The celebration started at 9:00am in the MCES gymnasium. Several veterans and current members of the Armed Services were on hand to be honored. The students were wearing lots of red, white and blue colors.

Tennessee names Top Schools for Achievement, Growth in 2011-12

Reward Schools located in 70 districts across the state in cities and rural areas
Brentwood, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman today announced 169 schools as the 2011-12 Reward Schools, the top 5 percent of schools in the state for annual growth and the top 5 percent for academic achievement.
For Montgomery County, the Reward Schools are Montgomery Central Elementary School for performance and progress and Woodlawn Elementary School for performance.

Lone Oak Picnic brings the Community Together

Cunningham, TN – The Central Civitan Club held the 104th Annual Lone Oak Picnic, Saturday July 28th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Central Civitan Building located on Alonzo Place in Southern Montgomery County. Cars were lining up down both sides of the street to pickup the good old fashion BBQ being served.
There was a large crowd throughout the day. At one time there were over 500 people socializing and enjoying some great food. Many were there to here the candidates in this years elections speak. At noon, 14 Federal, State and local candidates gave speeches to the attentive crowd.
 The Back Lot Pickers, Donald Greene and Lucian Greene, along with Jimmy Meek played at the 104th Annual Lone Oak Picnic.
