2013 Queen City Road Race was a test of the Runner’s Endurance

 

35th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – On Saturday the City of Clarksville’s Department of Parks and Recreation held their 35th Annual Queen City Road Race on the campus of Austin Peay State University, late yesterday they released the results of the races.

It was a rainy, cold, miserable of a day for running but that didn’t stop the 1,650 Racers who turned out to challenge themselves by running in the race.

“It’s absolutely awesome. It’s amazing to me that 1,650 people would come out and brave the elements and participate want to run and walk and just get out be physically active! There’s a lot of smiling faces and it’s been a wonderful day, even despite the rain,” said Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation Director Mark Tummons, as we stood together at the finish line.

Richview Middle School Girls and Boys Golf Teams advance to Region Tournament

 

Richview Middle SchoolClarksville, TN – Richview Middle School saw both its girls and boys golf teams advance to the region tournament, May 2nd at Swan Lake Golf Course, as the Lady Cowboys won the District M2 title — while the Cowboys finished second to Cheatham County Middle School.

The region tournament will be held in Nashville, TN at the Two Rivers Golf Course on May 6th and 7th, with the participating teams playing an hole 18-round each day.

Clarksville Montgomery County Library has Civil War Photo Contest Exhibit on Display

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – A winning photograph of cannon at Fort Donelson by Clarksville Middle-school student Miles Wilbur is among photographs currently on display at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library as it hosts the photo exhibit “Living Legacies: Capturing the Scenic Beauty in Tennessee’s Civil War Heritage.”

The exhibit is located in the library’s first-floor alcove (behind the fiction section). At the end of May the exhibit will close and move to the Obion County Public Library.

Lone Oak Picnic brings the Community Together

 

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – The Central Civitan Club held the 104th Annual Lone Oak Picnic, Saturday July 28th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Central Civitan Building located on Alonzo Place in Southern Montgomery County. Cars were lining up down both sides of the street to pickup the good old fashion BBQ being served.

There was a large crowd throughout the day. At one time there were over 500 people socializing and enjoying some great food. Many were there to here the candidates in this years elections speak. At noon, 14 Federal, State and local candidates gave speeches to the attentive crowd.
