Austin Peay Mens Basketball’s John Fraley overcomes concussion to earn Second-Team All-OVC

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceJohn FraleyNashville, TN – The start of John Fraley’s senior season was as inauspicious as the beginning of his Austin Peay basketball career.

Fraley, who was redshirted in 2007-08 to acclimate himself to the Division I game, suffered a concussion in the 20110-12 season opening game at Middle Tennessee and proceeded to miss the Govs next nine games, a stretch that saw APSU go 1-8 without its big man. The Govs are amidst a five-game losing streak after dropping an unseemly 52-48 decision, Wednesday. After permitting more than 70 points in five straight games, the Govs encountered other issues against Morehead State.

The Governors, who trailed by as much as 17 first-half points, rallied all the way back to lead in the contest, 60-59, but SEMO ended the game on a 6-0 run to defeat the Governors, 65-60, Thursday night in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Show Me Center.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCape Girardeau, MO – Southeast Missouri has been a surprise to everyone, except to themselves.

The Redhawks, who will play host to Austin Peay, 7:00pm, Thursday, finished strongly the 2010-11 season to earn an OVC tourney berth for the first time since 2007. Entering the season, they returned a quality cast, including 6-7 senior Leon Powell plus guards Marcus Brister and three-point specialist Marland Smith.
