Chrysler recalls over 200,000 Vehicles due to software error that can possibly cause wrong Airbag to Deploy

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2013 Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and RAM C/V Tradesman vehicles manufactured May 10th, 2012, through June 7th, 2013.

A software error may result in the opposite side airbags deploying from the collision point (a left side impact would deploy the right side airbags and vice versa).

Honda recalls over 140,000 Honda Fits due to possible Window Switch Overheating that could cause a Fire

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Honda is re-recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Fit vehicles covered under previous recall 10V-033. The remedy applied in this earlier recall may have been insufficient.

In the affected vehicles, over time, the plastic cover may separate from the master power window switch allowing water to enter the driver’s window and reach the master power window switch. If the master power window switch is damaged as a result of the water intrusion, overheating and failure of the switch may result.

Toyota recalls over 800,000 vehicles due to possible inadvertent airbag deployment

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Toyota is recalling certain model year 2003-2004 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles and 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The supplemental restraint system (SRS) circuits are susceptible to internal shorting.

The electrical short may create an abnormal current flow and increased heat which can damage the circuits. This could result in an inadvertent deployment of the front airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

Honda recalls over 800,000 vehicles for ignition switch problem

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Honda is recalling certain model year 2003 and 2004 Pilot and Odyssey and 2003 through 2006 Acura MDX passenger vehicles manufactured from November 26th, 2001, through August 30th, 2006.

The interlock lever of the ignition switch may deform, which can allow the interlock function of a vehicle with an automatic transmission to be defeated.

Honda recalls certain 2002-2006 CR-V Passenger Vehicles

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Honda is recalling certain model year 2002-2006 CR-V passenger vehicles, manufactured from February 19th, 2002, through July 28th, 2006. The driver-side power window switch may fail or melt.

If the switch fails, it could overheat, smoke, and cause a fire. A switch failure, and a fire, could occur even if the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the recall repair has been performed.

Final Fuel Economy Standards Will Help Consumers Save at the Pump

 

Consumers UnionWashington, D.C. – The Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced the final details of new fuel economy rules for Model Year 2017-2025 cars and light-duty trucks. The standards issued today require new vehicles to reach a combined fuel-economy of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.

Ford Motor Company recalls some 2001-2004 Ford Escape vehicles

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2001 through 2004 Escape vehicles equipped with 3.0L V6 engines and speed control manufactured from October 22nd, 1999, through January 23rd, 2004. Inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost-fully depressed.

This risk exists regardless of whether or not speed control (cruise control) is used.

We’ve listed some recommendations of things you can do to make Halloween safer for everyone.

Halloween should be a fun time for all involved. But, unfortunately it can also be a dangerous and deadly time due to impaired driving. According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, there have been close 5,000 traffic fatalities during Halloween between 1996-2005. Forty-four percent of those fatalities involved a driver or a motorcycle rider with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher which is illegal in every state. «Read the rest of this article»
