Tennessee Highway Patrol to increase Visibility during Fourth of July Weekend

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct a high-visibility enforcement campaign during this year’s Fourth of July holiday period, beginning at 12:01am on Thursday, July 3rd and ending at midnight on Sunday, July 6th.

State troopers will utilize a variety of traffic safety tools, such as driver’s license, sobriety and seat belt checkpoints, saturation patrols, and “No Refusal” enforcement, in an effort to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes on Tennessee roadways.

Tennessee Highway Patrol announces Fourth of July “No Refusal” results

 

Six Traffic Fatalities in No Refusal Counties; 16 Fatalities overall during Fourth of July Period

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested 61 individuals on suspicion of impaired driving in the 16-county “No Refusal” enforcement effort during the Fourth of July holiday period.

During the 102-hour period, six people were killed in traffic crashes in the counties participating in “No Refusal” and a total of 16 people died in vehicular crashes statewide.

Tennessee State Troopers will strictly enforce “No Refusal” Law in 16 Counties

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – Five people lost their lives in vehicular crashes on Tennessee roadways during last year’s New Year’s Eve holiday period. Sixty percent of those fatalities occurred in alcohol-related crashes.

Tennessee Highway Patrol prepares Motorists for heavy presence this Thanksgiving Holiday

 

Tennessee State Troopers Will Strictly Enforce No Refusal Law

The Tennessee Highway PatrolNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons and the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Colonel Tracy Trott are reminding citizens to expect a “No Refusal” and high-visibility, safe driving enforcement campaign during the 2012 Thanksgiving Holiday period. The “No Refusal” enforcement will begin at 6:00pm, Wednesday, November 21st and end at midnight, Sunday, November 25th.

The “No Refusal” law allows law enforcement officials to seek search warrants for blood samples in cases involving suspected impaired drivers. The goal is to deter impaired driving and reduce fatal crashes on Tennessee roadways.  The Thanksgiving Holiday marks the third “No Refusal” enforcement effort, following campaigns over the Fourth of July and Labor Day holiday periods.

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announces “No Refusal” Enforcement during Labor Day Weekend

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol, Governor’s Highway Safety Office and Mother’s Against Drunk Driving Make Joint Announcement

Tennessee Department of SafetyNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons and Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott announced the department’s second “No Refusal” enforcement campaign at a joint press conference with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in Nashville.

The “No Refusal” enforcement effort, beginning at 6:00pm on Friday, August 31st and concluding at midnight on Monday, September 3rd, will also coincide with the Labor Day holiday weekend.
