Clarksville’s Customs House Museum hosts Collection of Outsider Art

 

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum presents The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections in the museum’s Orgain Gallery. The exhibition runs through September 7th, and features the work of notable artists Reverend Howard Finster, Georgia Blizzard, and Mose T, among others.

“This showing of works exemplifies the characteristics of the Outsider artist,” states Exhibits Curator Terri Jordan. “We are thrilled that Mr. Hicks and Mr. Vander Elst are sharing their treasures with us. This show is a great treat for the museum’s visitors. Our younger guests seem especially excited with the artwork.”

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Calling all Governors Football Alumni! Austin Peay State University Athletics, in conjunction with Alumni Relations, has announced its 2014 Governors Football Alumni Reunion will coincide with the opening of New Governors Stadium.

The New Governors Stadium weekend will commence with a golf outing, Thursday, September 11th and conclude with a reception following the Governors’ September 13th game against Chattanooga.

Clarksville Police are asking Public Assistance in identifying Regions Bank Robbery Suspect

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is still actively searching for the suspect involved in the Attempted Bank Robbery on 128 North 2nd Street at Regions Bank on March 21st, 2014.

The robbery suspect held up a note to a bank employee stating, “Give me all the money.” At no time did the suspect display a weapon.

Clarksville Police Department releases Alcoholic Beverage Commission Operation results from April 18th, 2014

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On April 18th, 2014 Agents of the Special Operations Unit (SOU) conducted ABC operations targeting sales of alcohol to underage persons.

15 Stores were checked resulting in 4 stores (26 %) being cited for sales to persons under 21 years old. Agent Tanner Pew is the lead investigator.

Clarkville Police report attempted Bank Robbery at Regions Bank on North Second Street

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Friday, March 14th, 2014 at 12:24pm, the Clarksville Police Department responded to a hold up alarm at Regions Bank on 128 North 2nd Street.

A robbery suspect held up a note to a bank employee stating, “Give me all the money.” At no time did the suspect display a weapon.

Before Officers arrived, the suspect took off on foot to an unknown location.

35th Annual Queen City Road Race is this Saturday

 

35th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – The 35th Annual Queen City Road Race, scheduled for this Saturday, May 4th, is quickly approaching. Be aware that as the 5K and 7K race routes take runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, there will be several road closures to accommodate the safety of the runners.

The south bound lane of North 2nd Street to Main Street will be closed as well as the eastbound lane of College Street, and University Avenue to 8th Street.
