Early Squirrel Season Opening at Land Between the Lakes

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area’s 2013 spring squirrel hunting season will open in Tennessee from May 11th-June 9th and in Kentucky from May 18th-June 21st.

Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have an LBL Hunter Use Permit. LBL Hunter Use Permits are available at North and South Welcome Stations, Golden Pond Visitor Center, and wherever Kentucky and Tennessee state hunting licenses are sold. «Read the rest of this article»

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area begins its 2013 operations on Friday, March 1st, by opening several popular visitor attractions.

The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, and North and South Welcome Stations open their doors March 1st, along with Energy Lake, Hillman Ferry and Piney Campgrounds. Land Between The Lakes Race to the Canal Returns October 21st

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Race to the Canal will take place again this year at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area on Sunday, October 21st. This event provides cyclists the opportunity to enjoy an adrenaline rush in the great outdoors!

This mountain bike race is sponsored locally by Wood-N-Wave, Grand Rivers, KY, and sanctioned by USA Cycling (USAC). Race to the Canal is a point-to-point event that will cover challenging and varied terrain along the North/South Trail from Golden Pond Visitor Center to North Welcome Station. 4th of July Holiday Safety Tips from LBL Law Enforcement

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Forest Service Law Enforcement Officers at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area suggest making safety precautions as much of a summer tradition as fireworks on the Fourth of July.

More Camping and Lake Access Opportunities Return to LBL

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY - Camping and lake access opportunities are returning to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area as flood waters recede.  Lake levels for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are currently at 362.3 feet and dropping. 

The majority of campsites are open at Energy Lake Campground; all sites will open by May 20th. Hillman Ferry Campground and Piney Campground expect to open most walk-in sites and reservation sites on May 20th. Each seasonal camper at Hillman Ferry and Piney will be contacted individually as their site becomes available. Areas C, D, and E at Wranglers Campground are open for reservations. There are a very limited amount of walk-in sites available (call campground for availability, 270-924-2200).  Wranglers Riding Stables is open, as well as a significant portion of horseback riding trails.
