Richview Middle School Girls and Boys Golf Teams advance to Region Tournament
Clarksville, TN – Richview Middle School saw both its girls and boys golf teams advance to the region tournament, May 2nd at Swan Lake Golf Course, as the Lady Cowboys won the District M2 title — while the Cowboys finished second to Cheatham County Middle School.
The region tournament will be held in Nashville, TN at the Two Rivers Golf Course on May 6th and 7th, with the participating teams playing an hole 18-round each day.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Summer Youth Program

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Summer Youth Program will begin June 3rd with the opening of program sites and will end July 12th. This year’s theme is “It’s a Jungle Out There!”
The Summer Youth Program is a six-week day camp-type program that is offered each summer to youths, ages 6-16. Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who will help with playtime activities and provide free, instructional classes such as gymnastics and karate.

Clarksville Montgomery County School System announces New College and Career Academies

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery School System is proud to announce the implementation of college and career academies in each of the seven public high schools with registration beginning next week for the upcoming school year.
 Rossview High student Ian Pope operates the camera for the school’s news program. The school will be offering the Academy of Media Arts and Technology.

Local schools compete in 8th Annual Black History Bowl at Austin Peay State University

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this month, dozens of middle and high school students stopped by the Austin Peay State University campus to participate in the Eighth Annual Black History Bowl.

Planters Bank Supports Northeast Middle School Robotics Team

Clarksville, TN – Representatives from Planters Bank recently presented a check to the Northeast Middle School robotics teams.
The Northeast Electric Eagles Gold First LEGO League (FLL) robotics team recently won the First Place Champion’s Award and the Blue FLL team won the Robotic Programming Award at the West Tennessee State Championship held at the University of Memphis on December 8th, 2012.

Northeast Middle School Students Place First in STEM Competition

Clarksville, TN – The Northeast Middle School Robotics Class needs our help. In December last year, these highly talented and motivated students placed first in the robot programming category in Memphis, TN, which is quite a feat for this young program.
Led by educators Polly Kopp and Whitney Joyner, the success of these students offers them a chance to compete in the LEGO Open Invitational Tournament in California this May.

Richview Middle School Boys and Girls basketball teams win Championships
Clarksville, TN – Thursday night at New Providence Middle School there were two District Basketball Champions crowned.
In the girls championship game – Richview Middle School played a grueling basketball game against Rossview Middle School winning by one point in overtime. The Cowboys battled back and forth with the Hawks in a close game with a final score of 51-50.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board Awards Points of Pride

Clarksville, TN – Burt Elementary teacher Kenzi Neuman is being recognized for the initiative she took in entering Burt Elementary School in a state lottery which will allow fifth graders to visit the Tennessee State Museum on Feb. 15 and view the actual Emancipation Proclamation and Thirteenth amendment, which will be on display there for only 72 hours. An Abraham Lincoln impersonator also will visit the students at their school February 4 to impart more knowledge about these historical documents.
