Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Nashville Sounds upended the Oklahoma City Dodgers 8-5 Sunday night in front of 10,697 fans at First Tennessee Park to salvage a series split. Sheldon Neuse drove in four runs on two extra-base hits in the victory.

The Nashville Sounds handed Oklahoma City’s Manny Bañuelos his worst outing of the year as they tagged the All-Star for a season-high seven runs, all earned. The runs came in bunches as the Sounds scored multiple runs in three different innings against Bañuelos. Nashville’s James Naile logged his ninth quality start of the season as he went 6 1/3 innings and gave up five runs but just three were earned.

Nashville Sounds split doubleheader with Oklahoma City Dodgers

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers split a doubleheader in front of a sellout crowd 11,130 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

After falling 6-1 in game one, the Sounds returned the favor with a 4-0 win in game two. Liam Hendriks, Dean Kiekhefer, Ryan Dull and Josh Lucas combined to shut out the Dodgers on five hits.

Hendriks started for the first time this year and tossed two innings before being relieved by Kiekhefer. The southpaw tossed three scoreless innings and picked up his sixth win of the season. Dull struck out the side in the sixth before handing it over to Lucas who finished the win.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Close games have been the calling cards when the Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers get together and Friday night was no different as the Oklahoma City Dodgers edged the Nashville Sounds 5-4 in 10 innings. 9,868 fans watched the drama unfold at First Tennessee Park. The last eight games between the Sounds and Dodgers have been decided by one run.

After the Dodgers posted three runs in the eighth inning, the Sounds used a three-run rally of their own in the ninth inning to push the game to extras.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds used a four-run sixth inning to top the Omaha Storm Chasers, 4-2, in front of 9,639 fans at First Tennessee Park Thursday night.

Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Nashville sent nine hitters to the plate in the comeback. The one-out rally started when Beau Taylor walked, and Anthony Garcia doubled down the left field line.

Bruce Maxwell’s second hit of the game made it a 2-1 game and Sheldon Neuse delivered another run-scoring single to draw the Sounds even at 2-2. BJ Boyd followed with a base hit, the fifth straight Sound to reach safely.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The bats went quiet for the Nashville Sounds as they fell to the Omaha Storm Chasers 2-0 Wednesday night in front of 7,914 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville’s Chris Bassitt and Omaha’s Jake Kalish went toe-to-toe on the mound, each looking sharp in their seven innings of work.

In the end it was Kalish’s Storm Chasers who emerged victorious as the southpaw allowed just two hits in his seven shutout innings while fanning nine batters. Bassitt took the tough-luck loss as he matched a season-high by tossing seven innings. For Bassitt it was his second quality start of the season.

Nashville Sounds blast Omaha Storm Chasers, 11-1

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds designated hitter Anthony Garcia knocked in eight runs in an 11-1 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers in front of 8,476 fans at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night.

Garcia’s big game started in the first inning when he gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead with a groundout. He drove in Steve Lombardozzi who tripled to the gap in right-center.

The Sounds sent 11 to the plate in a seven-run second inning. Jorge Mateo started the frame with a walk and promptly stole second base. He scored on a base hit to right-center by Brett Vertigan.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Melvin Mercedes provided the offensive heroics for the Nashville Sounds while Ben Bracewell was superb on the mound as they came from behind to defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-4 in 11 innings.

Trailing 4-3 in the 11th inning, Sheldon Neuse squeaked a single past an outstretched Ryan O’Hearn at first base to knot the game at four runs apiece. After a sacrifice bunt from the birthday boy, BJ Boyd moved Neuse to second base, Mercedes came through in a major way. He found the hole on the left side of the infield to drive in Neuse from second and clinch the series-opening win.

Iowa Cubs blank Nashville Sounds, 2-0

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – A strong start by James Naile wasn’t enough for the Nashville Sounds in a 2-0 loss to the Iowa Cubs Sunday afternoon at Principal Park. 

Naile tossed seven innings and limited the Cubs to two runs on just four hits. It was Naile’s eighth quality start of the season, and his first outing since his 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game appearance on Wednesday.

Nashville’s offense never materialized and went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. They left the bases loaded in the fourth, and runners on in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Nashville Sounds fall late to Iowa Cubs, 5-4

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA -Ramon Laureano hit a tie-breaking homer in the seventh inning on Saturday night, but the Iowa Cubs answered with a two-run homer in the eighth and beat the Nashville Sounds 5-4 at Principal Park. The five-game series is even at two wins apiece, as the Sounds have dropped consecutive games.

Laureano’s two-out smash to left off Jen-Ho Tseng in the seventh was his fourth homer in 13 games in July, and it broke a 3-3 tie. But Jake Sanchez, who worked around trouble in the bottom of the seventh, gave up a two-out two-run shot to Taylor Davis in the eighth to account for the 5-4 final.

Nashville Sounds return to First Tennessee Park for Eight Games Monday

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park for a seven-day, eight-game homestand on Monday, July 16th, 2018.

The Sounds welcome the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, for a four-game series from July 16th-19th before hosting the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, for a four-game series from July 20th-22nd, including a doubleheader on Saturday, July 21st.
