Nashville Sounds roll past Memphis Redbirds, 11-8

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Four-hit games from Franklin Barreto and Mark Canha helped the Nashville Sounds out-slug the Memphis Redbirds in an 11-8 win at AutoZone Park Thursday night.

The pair combined to drive in seven runs and score five. Barreto finished a double shy of the cycle while Canha had a pair of doubles among his four knocks.

Nashville never trailed as they jumped out to an early lead and built on it throughout the night. Barreto’s big game started in the third when he singled to right-center. He came around to score the game’s first run on Josh Phegley’s sacrifice fly.

Memphis Redbirds down Nashville Sounds 3-2

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds put together a late rally but it was not enough as they fell to the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 Wednesday night at AutoZone Park. The one-run game was the sixth of its kind in the season series between the two ball clubs.

Memphis starter Jack Flaherty put together a dominant performance on the mound while the Sounds had to piece together a ball game with its bullpen. Felix Doubront made a spot start for Zach Neal and lasted three innings before being replaced by fellow southpaw, Patrick Schuster. Corey Walter finished out the ball game, tossing the final 2 2/3 innings.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Memphis Redbirds continued their winnings ways with a 3-1 win over the Nashville Sounds on Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

Three of the four runs on the night came in the first inning when Memphis got on the board early on Tyler O’Neill’s two-run homer to deep left field.

The Sounds came back with a run of their own with a two-out rally in the home half of the inning. Joey Wendle singled and raced home on Renato Nuñez’s double down the left field line.

Memphis Redbirds defeat Nashville Sounds 12-7 to clinch Division Title

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Memphis Redbirds clinched the American Southern Division Championship with a 12-7 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of 7,905 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday night.

The Redbirds have been in first place in the division for nearly all of the 2017 season and became the first team in the Pacific Coast League to punch a ticket to the playoffs.

Sunday’s game went back and forth throughout the night as both teams lit up the scoreboard. Memphis put the first run on the board when Stephen Piscotty clubbed a double off the left field wall to score Alex Mejia.

Nashville Sounds fall Saturday night to Memphis Redbirds, 6-1

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Memphis Redbirds evened the four-game series with a 6-1 win over the Nashville Sounds in front of a sellout crowd of 11,193 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.

The night belonged to the men on the mound as starters Daniel Gossett and Luke Weaver dueled throughout their respective outings. Gossett was tagged with the unfortunate loss after allowing a pair of runs on six hits over six innings. The right-hander matched a career-high with 10 strikeouts.

Weaver was just as good and earned his 10th win of the season. The right-hander limited the Sounds to one run on just three hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out five on the night.

Nashville Sounds to Honor Memory of Jim Fyke with Special Night at First Tennessee Park, August 19th

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds will celebrate the life and service of Jim Fyke, the longtime Nashville Metro government employee and State of Tennessee official, on Saturday, August 19th, 2017, prior to the team’s 7:05pm game against the Iowa Cubs.

Fyke, who passed away on June 20 at the age of 78, spent nearly 40 years working in Nashville’s Metro Parks and Recreation department, including a quarter-century as its director. In addition, Fyke served as state commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation for four years under former Governor Phil Bredesen.

Nashville Sounds down Memphis Redbirds 3-1

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Zach Neal fired seven strong innings to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 3-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds Friday night in front of 9,066 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Neal’s fantastic outing was the first time a Sounds starter went seven innings since Corey Walter tossed seven against New Orleans on June 20th.

The lone run the right-hander allowed came in the first inning. Memphis first baseman Alex Mejia doubled to the right-center gap with two outs in the frame to put a runner in scoring position. Stephen Piscotty followed by hitting a high fly ball towards the left field wall.

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds salvaged a series split with the Tacoma Rainiers after Thursday night’s 7-4 victory. The Sounds wrapped up their eight-game road trip with a 5-3 record.

Ben Bracewell was solid on the mound for Nashville, spanning five innings while allowing just a pair of runs, one earned, on just two hits to pick up his second victory of the season. His lone blemish was a Dan Vogelbach solo shot in the second inning that put the Rainiers on the board. Both free passes issued by Bracewell came in his fifth and final inning of work as he came to the end of the line.

Nashville Sounds loses to Tacoma Rainiers 9-2

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Tacoma Rainiers scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and never looked back in a 9-2 win over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.

Tacoma first baseman Dan Vogelbach drilled an opposite field two-run homer off Nashville starter Frankie Montas in the first inning to start the scoring for the Rainiers.

Nashville managed hits in each of the first three innings but came away with only one run. Franklin Barreto’s first inning double, and Yairo Munoz’s second inning single went for naught as Tacoma starter Sam Gaviglio worked around both in his first two frames.
