Brentwood, TN – Chris Horton, who became the first conference player to block 100 or more shots since 1996-97, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year.
In addition, Horton and Govs’ leading scorer Travis Betran were been named to the OVC All-Newcomer team. The OVC post-season basketball honors were announced Tuesday by the league office after a vote of league coaches and sports information directors.

Jonesboro, AR – After week off for finals its back to the business of basketball for Austin Peay State University. The Govs will hit the road to face Arkansas State, 2:00pm, Sunday December 14th in the ASU Convocation Center.
The Governors business begins and ends with taking care of the basketball. APSU committed 28 turnovers in its 83-65 loss to Memphis-it was the third time this season the Govs committed 20 or more turnovers.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s Travis Betran named APSU Athlete of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Junior guard Travis Betran, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Betran averaged 22.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting (16 of 27) last week, leading the Govs to a win against Oakland City before falling to Memphis. The Harlem native is now averaging 19.6 ppg over the last six games.

OVC honors Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s Travis Betran and Chris Horton

Brentwood, TN – For the first time in a decade the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week honor has gone to the same person for four straight weeks.
That player is Austin Peay State University 6-8 center Chris Horton, who averaged 14.5 points while shooting 82 percent from the floor this week in helping the Governors gain a split.

Clarksville, TN – Freshman center Chris Horton scored 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Austin Peay State University to an 88-63 victory against stubborn Oakland City, Wednesday night, in non-conference basketball action in Dave Aaron Arena.
The victory evens Austin Peay’s record at 4-4 while Oakland City falls to 4-2.
