New Providence Community Town Hall Meeting set May 5th

clarksvilletn A community gathering of vested stakeholders and concerns parties of the New Providence Community are urged to attend a new visions community planning meeting on May 5th. This will be an all-inclusive approach to renewing the community from within.

The Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development wants to encourage all the residents and business owners in New Providence to come out and join us as we create a neighborhood plan that will build on New Providence ’s assets. It starts with a “can do” attitude and local roots networks, faith groups and community groups working together side-by-side. With that kind of support we can transform and bring positive change to the residents and our community.

Public hearing scheduled to review 2009-10 Action Plan

housingThe City of Clarksville will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville,  in order to receive citizen input regarding the 2009/2010Action Plan,  American Recovery Act funding, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnership Program.

Citizen participation is essential to the City’s involvement in the Federal Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) Programs. The Action Plan serves as the planning document for addressing overall community development and housing needs that will utilize the City’s anticipated $ 800,000 entitlement of CDBG funding, $ 215,046 CDBG-R in addition to $ 425,00 of HOME Investment Partnership funds available to the City for 2009. UT students develop housing designs for Clarksville’s OHCD

The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) purchased property located at Union and Third Streets from the DDP.  In the summer of 2008, OHCD partnered with the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and Design to study the area and to prepare workforce housing designs for future development of the site.

On December 9, 2008 students from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and Design will present their design-studio work from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 pm. in the large meeting room at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library located at 350 Pageant Lane. «Read the rest of this article»
