APSU Women’s Softball defeats Murray State to move on to OVC Championship

APSU Women's TennisNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team will play for an Ohio Valley Conference Championship after defeating rival Murray State, 4-1, Saturday, at the Centennial Sportsplex.

The Govs (12-8, 6-3 OVC) got off to a much better start against the Racers (14-8, 8-1 OVC) than the regular season match, although the Racers did win at No. 3 doubles.

Former Austin Peay golf coach Kirk Kayden, along with current Govs coach Robbie Wilson, were in Chandler, AZ, this past weekend, watching a trio of former Govs attempt to earn their playing cards in the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Kayden, now the Mercer men’s golf coach, couldn’t help but gush about watching the three former Govs: “It was so much fun watching these guys getting a chance to realize their dreams. It was a pretty special thing, a once-in-a-lifetime deal…Three of your former players are playing in Web.com final. That just doesn’t happen. I had to make it work; I had to be there.”

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – With just two games remaining in the regular season and a potential at-large playoff berth hanging in the balance, the Austin Peay State University football team will take on Eastern Kentucky 12:00pm, Saturday, at Roy Kidd Stadium in Richmond, KY.

The Governors secured the program’s first ever Sgt. York Trophy on Saturday with a 35-28 win at Tennessee Tech.

Austin Peay Football continues run for the playoffs when it faces Eastern Kentucky in Richmond this Saturday at noon.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors look to end Fall Semester with NCAA Tournament berths

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – As Austin Peay State University heads into the final few weeks of its fall semester schedule the football and volleyball teams look to end things with championships and possible NCAA postseason berths.

The Governors football team currently owns a 6-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play, which places them second in the conference standings, and the only team remaining that could pass OVC leading Jacksonville State for the conference championship, if the Gamecocks were to lose their final two games and APSU wins its two remaining contests.
