APSU Track and Field Team to compete in Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite

Clarksville, TN – Outdoor season gets underway for Austin Peay State University track and field team when the Lady Govs make the short trek down I-24 for the Vanderbilt Black and Gold, the bulk of which takes place beginning 10:00am, Saturday, at the Vanderbilt Track Complex.
The women’s shot put, hammer throw and triple jump begins 4:00pm, Friday.

Austin Peay’s Chantelle Grey named OVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year

Brentwood, TN – Senior middle distance runner Chantelle Grey, of Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday.
Grey is the seventh Austin Peay athlete to capture an OVC Athlete of the Year Award for track and field in the program’s history. Given annually since 1990 and split into track and field awards in 2001, this honor was bestowed on Grey in a vote by the conference coaches.

Austin Peay Governors Lady Govs Track and Field’s Xiamar Richards named OVC Women’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week

Brentwood, TN – Junior Xiamar Richards has earned the Ohio Valley Conference’s Women’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week, February 5th, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Richards set a school record in the 5000m run at Saturday’s TSU Invitational, placing second with a 17:52.32 run. That bested her previous mark (17:53.05), which she set at last season’s OVC Indoor Championships.

Birmingham, AL – Several personal-bests led the way for Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team at the UAB Blazer Invitational, Friday, at the Crossplex Arena.
“This was a big meet, featuring lots of top competition,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We’re definitely still improving, but I’m very pleased with how well this meet went for us.”

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Indoor Track and Field
Columbus, OH – Austin Peay women’s indoor track and field team prepared for the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the OSU Tune-Up, hosted by Ohio State.
The OSU Tune Up proved to be a highly competitive meet, featuring host Ohio State, Ohio University, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Wright State, along with individuals from Cincinnati. The Lady Govs came away with seven personal bests, picking up eight top-5 finishes and winning the 1600-meter relay.

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field
Carbondale, IL – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team finished second at the Saluki Invitational, hosted Friday and Saturday, at Southern Illinois.
“This was our best meet this season without question,” head coach Doug Molnar said. “We’ve talked about trying to get inside the top 15 and the top 10 – today, we consistently had ourselves near the top of every event. From the relays to the pole vault, we were well-rounded.”

Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field head east to the Niswonger Invitational

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s indoor track and field team begins its stretch run, Friday and Saturday, at East Tennessee’s Niswonger Invitational.
The Lady Govs enter the meet ranked in the Ohio Valley Conference’s Top 10 in nine different events, including Chantelle Grey’s top-ranked 800-meter run time along with Xiamar Richards second-ranked 5000-meter run time and Tanesha Campbell’s second-ranked shot put mark. Head coach Doug Molnar is looking to add to that list, this weekend.
