APSU’s JaVaughn Craig Awarded OVC Co-Offensive and Newcomer of the Week After Record-Breaking Day

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s true freshman quarterback, JaVaughn Craig, was honored with Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week from the Ohio Valley Conference office Sunday afternoon.

In his first career start, Craig accounted for a school record 466 yards of total offense and five passing touchdowns in the Govs’ last second loss to Tennessee State.

APSU’s Kaitlyn Teeter earns second-straight adidas® OVC Newcomer Honor

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – For a second consecutive week, Austin Peay State University junior transfer Kaitlyn Teeter has been named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Teeter, of Lebanon, Tennessee, finished with 27 kills (4.50 kills per set) as the Governors swept both Southeast Missouri and UT Martin to begin OVC play last weekend. She had 13 kills (4.33 kps) and a .375 attack percentage along with seven digs against the Redhawks, Friday. Teeter followed that with a 13-kill (4.67 kps) performance against UT Martin, Saturday, that included three service aces and nine digs.

APSU Volleyball travels to Murray State, Eastern Kentucky

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – After a successful Ohio Valley Conference-opening weekend at home, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team begins a four-match OVC road trip this week with a pair of matches in Kentucky.

The Govs first face Murray State in a 7:00pm, Tuesday contest that will kickoff the “Battle of the Border” presented by Heritage Bank. Austin Peay then travels to Eastern Kentucky for a 1:00pm (CT), Saturday contest.

Vollyball’s Cecily Gable named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore outside hitter Cecily Gable, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gable was named Tournament MVP at The Citadel’s Bulldog Invitational last week, posting 55 kills and a .322 attack percentage for the tournament.

The Memphis native posted career-highs in kills in three straight contests—16 against Charleston Southern, Friday, followed by 17 in Saturday contests against Elon and Savannah State.

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Riding a four-match win streak, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team opens Ohio Valley Conference play at home when it hosts Southeast Missouri and UT Martin this weekend at the Dunn Center.

The Govs and Redhawks will start the weekend with a 6:00pm, Friday contest. Austin Peay then hosts the Skyhawks in a 2:00pm, Saturday matchup.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball senior guard Tiasha Gray picked up her first Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week award this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

Gray, of Clarksville, led Austin Peay to victories against Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech last week.

APSU Football’s Kendall Morris named OVC Newcomer of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University redshirt freshman tailback Kendall Morris has been named adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for his performance in Austin Peay’s contest at Murray State, Saturday.

For the second week in a row, Morris broke the 100-yard mark in rushing, needing just 15 carries to pick up 136 yards on the ground (9.1 ypc), including a touchdown. He added 30 more yards on three catches. It marks the first time an Austin Peay runner has posted consecutive 100-yard days since Otis Gerron in 2014.
