APSU Governors Baseball set to begin Second Round of OVC Tournament Thursday

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s nationally-ranked baseball team will put its program-record 12-game win streak on the line when it opens Ohio Valley Conference Tournament play with a 3:00pm, Thursday contest against an opponent to be determined.

APSU Baseball’s Reed Harper named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – After hitting .632 and leading the Austin Peay State University baseball team to four victories last week, senior shortstop Reed Harper has been named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The Clarksville native posted a multi-hit outing in all four contests last week, going 12-for-19 overall. He opened the week by going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the Govs final regular-season mid-week game at Memphis.

Austin Peay State University’s Reed Harper named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TNAustin Peay State University senior shortstop Reed Harper was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference’s Player of the Week, Monday, becoming the fourth APSU player to earn a weekly award.

Harper, of Clarksville, led the Govs with seven RBI in four games last week. He batted .333 with a home run and finished the week with a .533 slugging percentage and .444 on-base percentage.

APSU Governors Tennis heads to Murray State Tuesday

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – After a weekend of rest, Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team returns to action when it travels to Murray, KY, for a battle against archrival Murray State, 2:00pm, Tuesday.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.

APSU’s Tyler Rogers named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN - For the second consecutive week, Austin Peay State University closer Tyler Rogers has been named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, Monday.

Rogers shared the March 18th honor with Jacksonville State’s Casey Antley.

The Govs have opened the road trip with a 3-0 mark, including a pair of Ohio Valley Conference wins at Eastern Illinois last weekend.

APSU’s Cody Hudson named Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Player of the Week

 

Tennessee Sports Writers AssociationNashville, TNAustin Peay State University senior outfielder Cody Hudson has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Player of the Week, Monday.

Hudson, of Germantown, TN, also was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Player of the Week after batting .500 (11-for-22) with 11 RBI and three stolen bases to help the Govs post a 5-0 mark during the week. He posted multiple hits in each of the five games during the week, including three game-winning hits.

Hudson, of Germantown, TN, batted .500 (11-for-22) with a home run, 11 RBI and three stolen bases over the five-game span. He had three game-winning hits, including two walk-off hits, during the week.

APSU to host Riverview Inn Classic this weekend

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University‘s baseball team continues its 12-game homestand when it hosts the Riverview Inn Classic, Friday-Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The six-game, round-robin tournament will feature APSU vs, Creighton, Milwaukee and University of Arkansas-Little Rock(UALR) with two games scheduled each day. It will be the first time Austin Peay has met Creighton and UALR on the baseball diamond, while Milwaukee returns for the 19th meeting in the series after a one-year hiatus.

Austin Peay State University first baseman Craig Massoni named OVC Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University first baseman Craig Massoni was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s “Player of the Week,” Monday.

Massoni, of Danville, CA, batted .385 in three games last week, with a home run and seven RBI. The bulk of his week’s effort came in a monstrous 3-for-4, six RBI outing against Southern Illinois, Tuesday.
