APSU Women's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In it’s home finale Wednesday night, Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team earned a much-needed 85-60 victory over UT Martin at the Dunn Center.

The win helped move the Governors (13-15, 7-8 OVC) into a five-team tie spanning positions four through eight in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.

APSU Baseball blasts Southern Illinois, 10-3

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On Wednesday afternoon at Raymond C. Hand Park, Austin Peay State University right fielder Chase Hamilton hit two home runs to lead Govs five home run outing in a 10-3 victory over Southern Illinois. 

Austin Peay (3-1) wasted little time jumping out front thanks to shortstop Kyle Wilson, who opened the bottom of the first inning with a home run. Hamilton followed two outs later with his own solo home run, giving the Govs a 2-0 lead.

Carly Mattson named APSU Athlete of the Week

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Sophomore catcher Carly Mattson, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The McHenry, IL native was white-hot at the plate this past weekend collecting hits in all four games at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament, in Kennesaw, GA, finishing with a .615 batting average, a 1.462 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage.

APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityNashville, TN – On Tuesday, Austin Peay State University Basketball senior guard John Murry earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades after averaging 28.5 points with eight 3-pointers in a pair of victories for the Governors last week.

In his last two appearances at the Dunn Center, Murry led the Govs to a pair of crucial victories to remain in the hunt for a postseason berth.

The Govs finished sixth, one shot behind Bethune-Cookman for a top-five finish in the William & Mary-hosted event at the Club at Savannah Harbor, with a trio of newcomers leading the way.

APSU names Mike Minyard as Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs

APSU Baseball’s Dre Gleason earns OVC Player of the Week honor

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TNDre Gleason had a big weekend on the diamond and the Austin Peay State University senior first baseman was rewarded Monday with the Ohio Valley Conference’s Player of the Week honor.

It is the first weekly OVC honor for the O’Fallon, Missouri native, who opened 2017 with six hits and six RBI in the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge. Gleason posted a .600 batting average, 1.300 slugging percentage and .692 on-base percentage during the three-game weekend.
