Instant Peay Play: APSU Govs, Lady Govs Class of 2015 have much to be proud of

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University held its Spring Commencement ceremonies, May 8th at the Dunn Center, with 43 Governors and Lady Govs athletes not only picking up their respective degrees, but also leaving a legacy of success during their time on campus.

The 42 graduating athletes represented 12 of 14 teams at Austin Peay, with only the women’s cross country and tennis teams not having any team member graduate this spring.

APSU Athlete of the Week Patrick Massoni

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior outfielder Patrick Massoni, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Massoni was a catalyst from the lead-off spot last week for the Governors, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with a home run, two doubles, dour RBI and four runs scored as Austin Peay opened its Ohio Valley Conference scheduled with a sweep of Eastern Illinois.

The Danville, CA, native opened the series with a 5-for-5 effort – the first five-hit game by a Governor since Reed Harper in 2013 – that included a solo home run and a double, driving in two in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team begins its 2015 season when it hosts the Governors Challenge, Friday-Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park. The Govs will host Niagara, Northern Illinois and South Dakota State in the three-day, seven-game event – opening its season with a 3:00pm, Friday contest against Niagara.
