Clarksville, TN – One could smell the aromas in the air before arriving at Hilltop Super Market’s 4th annual BBQ Cook-Off Saturday.
The grass area in front of the market was filled with tents, grills, barrels and all kinds of barbecue cooking equipment.
People from miles around come out to the BBQ Cook-Off. There was plenty of food to be had as most of the grillers were selling barbecue as well as competing. Anything from bbq sandwich, hamburger, hotdogs, ribeye sandwiches, bbq by the pound, etc were available for purchase.
 Double A’s BBQ won Grand Champion at the 2013 Hilltop BBQ Cook-Off.

Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department holds First Annual Cornhole Tournament at Hilltop Super Market

Montgomery County, TN – On Saturday, May 11th, the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department held their First Annual Cornhole Tournament.
It began at 8:00am at Hilltop Super Market, located at 400 Highway 149, during Hilltop’s BBQ Cook-Off.

Fire at Montgomery County EMS Station 23
Clarksville, TN – Wednesday morning, around 9:45am at the EMS Station 23 across the street from the Hilltop Market at 385 Highway 149, a member of the on duty EMS crew smelled smoke, and when checking for the source found the garage where their ambulance was parked engulfed in flames.
As one of the crew responded to the fire, the other called for support from area Fire Departments; units from Clarksville Fire Rescue, Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department, East Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department, and the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department responded to help fight the flames which were under control within 20 minutes of the initial call being placed.
 An ambulance was the source of the flames that destroyed EMS Station 23 on Highway 149 in South Montgomery County earlier today

Hilltop Supermarket held 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, April 7th, Hilltop Supermarket held their 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event started at 11:00am with food, inflatables, face painting, cupcake decorating and more.
The easter egg hunt was broken down into four groups; up to 4 year olds, 5 to 6 year olds, 7 to 9 year olds and the 10 to 12 year old group.
 There was a large turnout to Hilltop Supermarket’s 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday.

Volunteer Fire Service Awards Banquet

Montgomery County, TN – The annual Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Service Awards Dinner was held Friday, December 9th at the Montgomery County Civic Hall. Congratulations to the award recipients: Stephanie Geewax, Rescue Squad; Jeff Davidson, Palmyra station; Wade Kunstmann, Cunningham station; Charles “Chip” Nichols-Redman, St. Bethlehem station; Derrick Wilson, East Montgomery station; and Joshus Banker, Woodlawn station, for all being selected as Firefighters of the Year for their respective stations.
Jeff Davidson was given the high honor of being selected as the Overall Firefighter of the Year for 2011. Jeff has been a volunteer firefighter since 1990 and currently serves with the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Service.

Hilltop Market holds their 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, April 23rd, Hilltop Supermarket held their 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Over 400 kids lined up along the grass waiting on the 2:00pm start time.
“I believe this is the best turn out we’ve had in our 16 years of doing this event.” stated Mike Jackson, Store Manager.

Montgomery County Volunteer Firefighters respond to Salem Road fire
The Cunningham Volunteer Department responded to a call of a Structure fire on Salem Road at around 11:30am on Sunday September 19th 2010. There were assisted at the scene by the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery County EMS, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and the American Red Cross. A total of 26 firefighters responded to the blaze, Captain William Jackson from the Cunningham Fire Department was the Incident Commander.
