Local Nonprofit Organizations invited to Network Breakfast for APSU President’s Emerging Leaders Program Students


Nonprofit Leadership and Volunteer NetworkClarksville, TN – The Nonprofit Leadership and Volunteer Network (formerly Hands on Clarksville) will co-host the President’s Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) Nonprofit Network Breakfast on January 17th, 2013 from 7:30am-8:30am in the Honors Commons at APSU.

The Presidents Emerging Leaders Program helps prepare students at APSU for a lifetime of leadership. The program creates an environment that develops leaders for the future through the twin virtues of scholarship and service. PELP students must maintain a cumulative collegiate GPA of at least 3.25 and they must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester. «Read the rest of this article»

APSU revamps Leadership Studies minor for this fall

Towards this end the University has created a new facility dedicated to their high achieving students.   Becoming a Honors Student isn’t automatic, and having good grades alone will not grant you access to the new facility.

APSU Honors Commons Opens with Ribbon Cutting on September 2nd


Austin Peay State UniversityEarlier this summer, when workers attached the words “Honors Commons” to a red brick building in the heart of the Austin Peay State University campus, a major milestone was reached. For the first time in APSU history, the University had a designated space for high achieving students.  

This fall, those students will meet, study, socialize and attend classes inside the newly renovated Honors Commons. The 8,000-square-foot building, which will officially open during a ceremony on Thursday, September 2nd, will house both the University’s Honors Program and the President’s Emerging Leaders Program.

The grand opening will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm that Thursday, with a ribbon cutting at 5:00pm. Local dignitaries will be in attendance, and the community is invited to tour the new space and enjoy refreshments. «Read the rest of this article»
