APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsEdwardsville, IL – Their Austin Peay State University teammates made sure Anthony Campbell and Will Triggs return home was a winning one.

Campbell and Triggs were among four Governors who scored in double figures, Saturday night, as APSU downed Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 83-71, in Ohio Valley Conference action played at the Vadalabene Center.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – This is the 23rd Annual Dr. Pepper Classic, hosted by Chattanooga. This is the Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s second tourney appearance. The Governors reached the finals of 2000 Classic.

APSU has never played two-Utah Valley and High Point-of the entrants in this year’s tourney. APSU and Chattanooga have played 18 times previously.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball stuggles late in the game to lose to Illinois State Redbirds 83-57

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsNormal, IL – llinois State broke open a tie game with a half-ending 14-2 run as Austin Peay State University fell, 83-57, Saturday afternoon in non-conference basketball action played at Redbird Arena.

The loss was APSU’s fourth straight, dropping the Governors to 4-8 heading into Christmas. Meanwhile, Illinois State, a member of the Missouri Valley, improved to 9-3.

Chris Horton leads Austin Peay Governors Basketball to 88-63 victory over Oakland City Mighty Oaks

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Freshman center Chris Horton scored 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Austin Peay State University to an 88-63 victory against stubborn Oakland City, Wednesday night, in non-conference basketball action in Dave Aaron Arena.

The victory evens Austin Peay’s record at 4-4 while Oakland City falls to 4-2.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball faces DePaul next in Triple Crown Cancun Challenge

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsRosemont, ILAustin Peay State University‘s second trip as part of the Triple Crown Cancun Challenge takes the Governors all the way to Chicago as they face DePaul, 1:00pm, Saturday, in the AllState Arena.

The Governors are coming off a 74-54 road loss at Western Kentucky, Tuesday, in first-round tourney play while DePaul incurred a stunning 71-59 home loss to Gardner-Webb, Thursday. This is the first meeting between the two teams. Both then will leave Sunday for Cancun to complete tourney play.

The Governors are coming off a 75-64 home win against Samford-only the fifth time in Dave Loos’ 23 seasons APSU opened the season at home.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball opens season with Samford at home Friday night

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – It has been a rare occasion Austin Peay men’s basketball team has opened at home, at least under head coach Dave Loos.

In fact, Friday’s 7:00pm, season opener against Samford in Dave Aaron Arena is only the fifth time in Loos’ 23 season the Governors have opened a season at home. It has been since the 2003-04 season the Governors (Knoxville College) have played at home. It has been since the 1995-96 season since the Govs played a Division I team (Northern Illinois) at home to open the season. Normally the Govs are paying the bills through guarantee games or related tournaments.
