Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board Awards Points of Pride

 

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemClarksville, TN – Burt Elementary teacher Kenzi Neuman is being recognized for the initiative she took in entering Burt Elementary School in a state lottery which will allow fifth graders to visit the Tennessee State Museum on Feb. 15 and view the actual Emancipation Proclamation and Thirteenth amendment, which will be on display there for only 72 hours. An Abraham Lincoln impersonator also will visit the students at their school February 4 to impart more knowledge about these historical documents.

APSU P.E. Majors help disabled with sports, fitness skills

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Service learning in the classrooms is gaining acceptance in higher education as a way for students to help the community using the knowledge learned. One class is doing just that this semester.

For 30 minutes every Friday in the Dunn Center, students in the adaptive physical education course teach basic sports and fitness skills such as throwing and catching to clients of varying disabilities in the Progressive Directions Inc. program, which provides mental retardation services in Montgomery and Stewart counties.

The Teddy McGovern Picnic for Progressive Directions

 

The Teddy McGovern PDI Picnic will be this Friday, June 24th, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Mr. McGovern has donated his time and resources to host this picnic for many years. The will be hamburgers and all the fixings. One of the activities the Program Participants look forward to each year is a water gun fight.
