Cumberland and Red Rivers are flooding

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) the Cumberland and Red rivers have exceeded their flood stages. Low level areas are already experiencing flooding. The high water is not expected to last long, however be sure to exercise caution.

The NWS offers these tips for dealing with high water. Avoid flooded areas along the river…and move personal belongings to higher ground. Never drive through flooded roads as the depth of water may be too great to pass…even in trucks or sport utility vehicles. If you come across a flooded road…turn around don`t drown.

River District Commission to meet

New toy and a shocking discovery

On black Friday, like many other Clarksvillians, I was out and about very early. At exactly 5am I was pulling into the filled to capacity parking lot in front of Best Buy. I was there to check out some of the holiday sales.

I found a nice camera in my low price range. A Panasonic Lumix model DMC-LZ3 for $149.00. I saved roughly $30.00 on the camera which by it’s self wouldn’t have encourage me to buy that day. But Best Buy also had the SD memory cards on sale. I was able to find a 2 gig memory card for the camera for only $29, a savings of $50.00 or more. RJ Corman Railroad should pay to refurbish their bridge

The State of Tennessee has been asked in the name of the residents of Clarksville, Montgomery County and Stewart County Tennessee to issue a grant for the refurbishment of the RJ Corman Railroad bridge. This bridge passes over Riverside Drive in Clarksville before it crosses the Cumberland River on it’s journey to the TVA’s Cumberland City Power Plant in Stewart County. Both the railroad and the bridge are privately owned and operated by the RJ Corman Railroad Group LLC, a for profit company. «Read the rest of this article»
