Austin Peay State University Governors Tennis starts NCAA Journey

Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team will take on tenth-seeded Mississippi State in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship, 1:00pm, Friday, at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, MS.

Austin Peay State University to face Mississippi State University in NCAA men’s tennis tournament
Clarksville, TN — Austin Peay State University’s men’s tennis team, winners of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, will face Mississippi State in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament.
The Govs (17-3), who won the OVC title for the first time since 1974 will be making its first NCAA Tournament appearance and it will be the first for first-year head coach Ross Brown, who was named to the position last summer.

Paducah, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team was eliminated in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament, Friday, falling 4-0 to Eastern Illinois.

Austin Peay State University has Four Athletes earn All-OVC honors

Paducah, KY – For the second year in a row, four Austin Peay State University men’s tennis players have earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. The conference announced their honors at the annual awards banquet prior to the OVC Tennis Tournament Championship.
Senior Sean Bailey, junior Jasmin Ademovic and sophomore Dimitar Ristovski earned first-team honors, as voted by the conference coaches. Sophomore Aleksas Tverijonas claimed a spot on the second team. It’s the second time in three years the Govs have placed three on the first team, with Ademovic, Bailey and Henrique Norbiato earning first-team honors in 2011.

APSU Lady Govs Tennis’ Alison Carre earns OVC all-conference second-team
APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Tennis
Paducah, KY – Sophomore Alison Carre, of the Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team, has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference all-conference second-team, announced at the annual awards banquet prior to the OVC Tennis Tournament, Thursday.
Carre was 9-11 at No. 1 singles during the dual season and 13-12 overall. She teamed with Vanessa Tavares for an 11-6 doubles mark, primarily at No. 2 doubles. The pair is 7-3 in their last 10 matches.

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Tennis
Murray, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team saw its two-match winning streak snapped when they ran up against a dangerous Murray State squad at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts, Tuesday.
The Racers dispatched the Lady Govs, 7-0, to drop Austin Peay below .500 in conference play.
