Despite coming away on the wrong side of a 2-0 decision, the Lady Govs showed poise and toughness against an experienced Rebel squad picked to finish ninth in the Southeastern Conference preseason coaches poll.

APSU Governors Basketball has Seven 20-win teams among 2014-15 opponents

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University 2014-15 Men’s basketball schedule will feature seven opponents that won 20 or more games a year ago.

The Governors’ slate will include 14 home regular-season games plus two exhibitions. That home calendar will see the Govs play North Florida for the first time, a 2:00pm New Year’s Eve contest.

APSU Track and Field’s Kaylnn Pitts closes out NCAA East Preliminary in triple jump

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUJacksonville, FL – Freshman Austin Peay State University track and field athlete Kaylnn Pitts saw her first collegiate season come to an end with a 32nd-place finish in the triple jump, Saturday, at the NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted by North Florida.

Pitts was one of the tone-setters for the event, jumping second out of the first of four flights.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior distance runner Xiamar Hudson, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named this week’s Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

A week after breaking the school record en route to bronze-medalist honors in the 1500m run at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, Hudson lowered the mark still further with a 4:30.88 mark to finish second in the event behind Samford’s Lauren D’Alessio at the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Georgia.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf head to Alabama for Samford Intercollegiate

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – With nearly two full weeks of practice behind it, Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will participate in its second spring tournament, traveling to Hoover, AL, for the 2014 Samford Intercollegiate.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament (36 holes, Monday; 18 holes, Tuesday) will be played at the Hoover Country Club, on the par-72, 7,001-yard layout with a 136 slope rating.

It was the first meeting between the two programs since March 2008, when the Bulldogs were still an OVC member.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team dropped the rubber game of its three-game weekend series to IUPUI, Sunday at Cheryl Holt Field, 10-1 in five innings.

The Lady Govs (2-6) fell behind quickly, despite getting the first two outs in the top of the first inning, with the Jaguars (4-4) stringing together three straight hits against Lady Govs starter Lauren de Castro.
